Smile Good news on Key with security chip

I ordered one of these on ebay before I knew that ebay keys typically don't work. Good news, this one does.

Brand New 2000 2006 Jaguar XK XJ Transponder Chip Key | eBay

I also found a key shop in Richardson (dallas area) who could cut and program it. They will also sell you a new key but not at this price. They are

Action Lock-Doc 972-690-4431

Hope this helps someone, y'all have helped me.

Have the locksmith evaluate the sturdiness of the key. I used the same ebay site to buy the keys just to get the transponders. The locksmith who cut and programmed mine then transferred the transponders into much studier keys. This got me two good, solid keys (still going strong after three years of daily driving) at a fraction of the retail price. (we won't even consider the hundreds of dollars the dealer wanted just for one!).

The two transponders from the ebay keys + two better keys + cutting +programming was less than $130.

I hope you can do even better!

BTW: As screwed-up as our keys and their programming seem to be, my locksmith said there are several manufacturers / models out there that are even worse. MUCH worse.

Got my ebay fob programmed finally. Followed the instructions found on this site, the version that punches each of the four buttons on each fob. The only difference I found was that I had to start the car, then turn it off before I started the programming. If I just started the process, it would not work.

Also found when programming the home link, car had to be running to work.

Thanks to those who wrote the instructions.
