Gored!!! Oh the horror!!
Well,
Being unable to get the car out of my wifes hands we had an interesting start to the weekend.
She and my 7 year old were out shopping all over town, (would you PLEASE wash the car??).
They, (she the adult), parked the car in an underground garage at a super regional shopping mall...away from most, in an area I would have picked had I thought to bring the car to a super regional shopping mall.
Upon spending the equivalent of two years worth of maintenance on the car at such esteemed purveyors as Build A Bear, Disney Store etc etc they returned to the car to notice a local police cruiser leaving the back area of the garage....hmmm says the wife, you NEVER see a car down here...
Upon reaching the car she noticed what she thought was a flyer left on the windshield. It was in fact an accident report. The passenger side headlamp now looks like a very interesting crazed glass art piece..(without the chrome plug where the washer would go). That was on the ground in three pieces, (very thick btw).
Well the bright side is that the young lady who had borrowed her Dads car found it within herself to call the Police and report the accident, so as far as my cost there is no issue. I will be sending her Dad a letter letting him know he should be proud of her.
My wife thought I was going to have a fit, but hey, no worries, the darned glass was fogged up anyway from a seal leak:-)

That's a nice touch.
It's a shame that we can't take integrity for granted in these situations. But, if honesty and good character are acknowledged and reinforced, perhaps it will come in vogue again.
Cheers

Sadly that sort of honesty doesn't happen very often in the UK , well , that's my experience , most of the damage caused to my previous cars was caused by elderly people trying to park or opening doors onto my car ,
I don't do parking in super markets unless I remain in the car while the missus does the shopping ,

Wait until Daddy gets the bill for $1,000 to replace that headlight.
Well luckily for Daddy his insurance company will take care of it.
Really no other damage except for an abrasion on bumper but again that will be covered.
Funny, I had a nimrod turn into me on my 96 VDP a few years back, expertly removing the front bumper. Believe it or not the first thing that went through my mind was ...hey I'll finally get those fog lights fixed, (dealer has to remove bumper basically in pre 98 XJ's)....interesting that my mind would think the same way relative to the fogged up lens.
