Default Guide for XK8 4.0l & 4.2l O-Rings Sizes

Recently ordered a 250 pcs. assortment of Metric O RIngs for JIC (Just In Case) I needed some. Decided to change the engine oil dipstick and damaged mine. The assortment had numerous sizes but none the correct size. The part load and full load-PCV O Ring sizes were not in it also. Searched with 2 search engines and found little info on sizes needed for our engine systems. Generally 2 types of O RIngs, Metric ( 2 sub categories- Asian & European) and Standard Found adequate info to determine how to measure and size the o rings but did not have all the items to measure. The info provider should ID their car as 4.0L or 4.2L and if N/A or S/C Only 2 size measurements are required for order from the online stores. You need the cross section (C/S) and the internal I.D (I.D.). The size measurements should be in MM with reasonably accurate dial or digital calipers. Generally the Buna-Nitrile type, black, will be OK for the following items since the max. temp is 220 degrees F. The A/C systems use Green type and are different material..
Is there adequate interest in a definitive list of O RIng sizes to secure help from our members having access to the various places the o rings are required? One member provided the sizes on the Full Load hose and PCV valve. Should you want to provide info, please reply to this thread, you may list it with the name and location of the parts next the C/S and then the I.D. This list should allow us to spec. our material quality to the function will be used for, not a Generic O RIng kit.or local parts house since. You can probably order majority of the o rings needed for price of 1 Jaguar O Ring.
Examples 4.2L XK8 N/A- L.H. Drivers Part Load breather hose 2.55mm X 11.5mm Qty. 2 , R.H. PCV valve 2.65mm X 16mm Qty 1,
R.H Full Load Hose 2.65mm X 14mm Qty.1, Engine Oil Dipstick Top 2.4mm X 5.5mm Qty 1,, Oil Cooler lines to Block 2.65mm X 16mm Qty. 2,
Metal Oil Cooler lines 2.65mm X 14mm Qty. 4
BLANK FOR ADDITIONAL INFO. Octopus Hose o rings, MAF Sensor , Brake Vac. Line at T/B, and other places. Please do your measurements as accurately as possible. Measure twice report once :-)

FWIW for oddball O-Rings:
I have had much success by putting slightly oversize O-rings on a mandrel (drill bit) and spin sanding them to size. Then, after I get them to work, I coat them with silicone paste.

BUMPED - Expected some owners would have an interest in this topic due to our O-Rings getting old and failing. Discovered O-Rings Store from another post and probably any item needed is available, S&H is $9.95 min. plus there is a minimum number of each size. Anyone having some Jaguar items to measure, please chime in.

Kelly,

I have always been able to find every O-ring I have ever needed (regardless of the specific application) in stock at my local NAPA store, usually for a reasonable price and usually with several different material / durability choices. Granted, $10 for a bag of 250 various-sized O-rings is cheap indeed, but I wonder about the quality and whether or not there is a shelf life to consider....

Update: MAF Sensor O-Ring--- C.S.- 2mm & I.D.- 28.2mm.
Located a old MAF sensor and measured the O-ring. Almost have the Items amount equal to the S&H to make all the order. Quantity of 3 or more all numbers included so probably never use them . $20 was less than I paid for the 6 Oil Cooler O-Rings .

Anyone know the sizes for the o-rings on both sides of the pre-2003 fuel filter. The 4.0 engines used a screw in fuel filter, with the o-rings on the fuel lines on both sides.

The o-rings are not included with any of the fuel filters I’ve seen.

Do not know measurements, but the filter is easily obtained and so are O Rings. Ask for Chev. Truck 1998 or for many years fwd. Almost any parts sore will have them. I used the Chev truck fuel filter on my MGB/ 5.0L Mustang drive train conversion in year 2000. Have a great day!
