Assembling everything back in the rear suspension and drivetrain of my Xkr. I remember something about the importance of getting the cable equalizer with the correct side up. But cannot find any info on that now when searching the forum! Anyone who knows? Bulged side up or down?
The location and range of travel is very clear of all contact with no apparent obstructions.
I can only surmise that the reason for orientation is safety.
If the cable was somehow very loose (due to being stretched, out of adjustment or brake shoe spring failure), then it should never drop out of the captive 'U-shaped' channel.
Perhaps the thread adjuster side should be beneath the cable - which would help stop the cable loop falling out scenario.
Here's a pic of mine which seems to reflect that set-up (Cable over the screw adjuster) but I don't know for sure if this is right.
