Default Has anybody ever replaced the starter without removing the steering rack?

The JTIS says to remove the power steering rack and I'd like to avoid this. If you have replaced the starter without removing the steering rack do you remember what tools you used?

Do a google search on this topic. Several threads on how to do it without dropping rack.

It does require a Rube Goldberg collection of extensions for one of the bolts, but very do-able.

I did search before posting but all I found was this thread for x308 https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...ast-way-77394/

Would it be the same?

I'm embarrassed to say I can't find the link either now.

Pretty sure I remember one with pictures that also showed the funky set of extensions used. The link you showed follows the same reasoning.

If I can find it, I will post the link. In the meanwhile hopefully someone who has done the R&R will join in the discussion.

Here a thread showing a half-moon wrench to get to the bolts so maybe this will help.

I think that is exactly what I needed! I have Amazon Prime so I ordered the 13mm half moon wrench and will hopefully get this done on Friday.

Thanks to everybody!

My local Midas Shop changed my starter for $125 without doing the rack.

$125 was a good price! Now that I know how to do it I'd probably do it again but it took me at least 3-4 hours. It is a pain getting to that top bolt..
