Default Head Light Washer cover wont stay on

Man I fiddled with my head light washers on my car and now they will not stay on sturdy enough for me to feel I can leave them on and not fall off.
They were stiff as hell to get off but now that clip on but are loose. does not appear they are broken. Any one played with theirs before?

Anyone got anything on this? This is the headlight washer option on my 97 XK*, anyone got a link to a page that has pics of this set up? Or first hand experience.

Never had mine off, wasn't someone going to help you determine if your nozzles weren't correct also? If so, just wait till they help you with that, and ask about re-securing it back on. I've never had mine off, so I can't help you here.

I just look at the JTIS program I have on my PC, it didn't have a ton of info on the washers. No good pics at all.

I had mine off last year they are loose, but not loose enough to fall off I got a spare at the shop, when I get a chance I'll photograph it for you. I don't remember if the clips are plastic or metal. If they are plastic you may be able to heat them up with a heat gun to close them for a tighter fit.

Are you speaking of the piece of glass at the front of the washers?

I looked today and could not find the spare, I did find the lens I think you might not have it on all the way on, When I first took mine off I could not get it on with out going underneath the car to hold onto the pump. The pump slides into a groove underneath the headlight assembly. and I think there is enough give that when the cover is pushed on it will bottom out on the two little guide holes and not seat on the pump see photo.

I will have to play with it more.
I am able to get the MIDDLE cup like thing on the end of the squirt arm to clip to the middle holding pc on the lense but it moves around on that part and is not solid enough to make me feel good to leave it on.

I had lost one and had to reinstall a new cover and did notice it seemed to be loose. I was not totally satisfied with the looseness of the newly installed cover but left it alone with hopes I would not lose it. I think it has been a year or so when I installed it and it is still on. It does snap into place I guess you need to determine if it is snug enough so not to lose it.

It is not snug enough for me AT ALL. For as hard as it was to get off, now to take it off after I put it back if is waaaaaaaaay to loose.
I was thinking of HELP to keep it on. GLUE. ha ha

Wrap the ball part with a plastic and see if it snugs it up enough to satisfy your concern. Use a zip lock freezer bag it might be the right thickness. Gluing it is not an option I would be in favor of.

They do fit loose, can you actually pull it off with little pressure or does it take some pressure to get it off? If you can pop it off with a little pressure I would try Gus's suggestion. I wouldn't be gluing these pieces together.

It may have been hard to get off because of the accumulated road dirt over the years.
Good Luck

When I first took it off it was hard to get off. Now when I mount it, it is loosley attached. Couple good bumps on the road and I know it will be gone.
I mean when I put it back on then I play with the cover pc it is moving some, not solid like it was when I first unfortunately, messed with it.

Looked at it again today, could not get the cover to stay on firm at all. It was snapping all the way on. NEW issues onm the driver side I was pulling the arm out too hard and the whole unit seems to have SNAPPED off what ever it was mounted too. Clearly prob a plastic mount. I have NO idea how to get to this thing to even see that area.

I suspect based on what you say here is that I pulled the unit off the groove. I was pulling pretty hard. Even today trying to put it on the damn thing seemed way too loose it was moving on its mount to a point that I know a good bumpy road it would be ghandi.
Arrrrg wehat I would do for a good old nice mid 70's z28 in good shape. So much less crap to go wrong.

The covers do NOT clip on firmly. They sorta just grab on a tiny bit but that is it. They will fall off with ease. Am I missing something??? But all the pics I posted is all that was there when I pilled them apart. That little guide nub on the cover goes right into the guide hole on the squirt arm that comes out. It fits snug up to the connection on arm but is loose as hell. Dont get it. Maybe once they are off they are shot and you have to get a new one??
