Default Transmission

Solar,
I am in BC. My Jag popped the the tranny. (A)clutch drum ring. Estimated repair was $7000 re/re. The transmission fluid is sealed and is measured with a laser temp sensor (no dipstick). This is an easy test as most mechanics have a laser temp gun. Most of the info I have seen is 40 to 50 degrees Centigrade measured at the bottom pan. If transmission is low on fluid it will overheat. Just some food for thought.

Default already nearing classic status IMO.

30 years Mark? how do u come to that figure out of interest?
I'd say any car like these become classic as soon as they reach 25 years old.
They are in fact classed as a classic by insurance companies over here as soon as they reach 15 years old.
As far as i can see they have bottomed out value-wise and will only start to slowly but surely gain value.
The only problem with the XK8 is how finicky and complicated they are - it seems any little thing and it to use and Americanism 'throws a hissy fit' - this would put off many potential buyers looking for a good looking sunny wknd toy - i bought mine as i couldn't think of a car i'd rather have for the money - it's not perfect but i smile every time i go to drive it and i always say hello beautiful to it as i get in - and thanks beautiful when i get out. to me it's an everyday car and not a toy.
