The tips on the Maroon "J4GJ4R" plate convert look great. Can someone identify them please. They look bigger than stock, so I assume they are aftermarket. What brand and your source PLEASE!
I couldn't view the image in your post, so I'm not sure which tips you are talking about. If they are the ovals in post #35, they are Ractive T820. ltbautosports has them on e-bay for 29.95 each.
Cheers,

OK Folks, I Finally Did It!
After much gnashing of teeth and wringing of hands (and lots of great advice from my Forum-buddies), I have finally installed new exhaust tips. Oddly enough, they are some that we haven’t even talked about here. I was impressed with the look of the 911 tips XKRacer showed us, but when I found a 1998 911 with those tips and measured them, I realized that even though they looked great on an earlier car, they would not look as good on my 2006 because they wouldn’t fill the bumper cutout like they do in his pictures.
I actually bought a pair of Ractive T820 4.5" x 3.25” ovals - - - but then I spotted these guys:
They are made by Jones and are what they call their “Escalade” style because they are fashioned after the early 1990’s Escalade and Denali tips. What I liked was that in addition to being angled up-and-down, they are angled side-to-side like the 911s, although not quite as much. They are 6.25” x 3.75” ovals, which fill the cutout nicely.
For anyone who wants to know, the part # is Jones PMS625LRSS, which is the set of two (right and left) tips. Wesdon also sells them on eBay under their part # WESPMSLRSS.
Here's the finished product:
Thanks again to all who shared.

Those tips are sweet !
Just as a side note, it looks like you have a satellite radio antenna on your boot lid. I have mine hidden under the carpet of the metal convertible top stowage tray and it works just fine there. That is also the location for the OEM GPS navigation antenna, BTW.

Now, I just have to say this: Those are the nicest tips I've ever seen. I love large tips. I can't help it, I just keep staring at your tips. I know those aren't "real" tips (OEM), but there's nothing wrong with fake tips. Thanks for showing us your tips!

Yeah, I do get tired of guys like Sam staring at my car's back end.
Y'know, I had to weld about 3 inches of 2.25 pipe to those tips to make them fit onto the muffler stub pipe.
Would that be considered a "tip enlargement operation"?
Just wondering -

Well, I was going to use some stainless plumber's strap to suspend them from the body, but I think I prefer the strapless look.

(By the way, the inlet end of these is tapered enough to give plenty of clearance to the trunk floor.)
Cheers.

XK8+XJ8L congrats for your final choice, they are BIG and beautiful, the inner pipe is a good insight. Got up today thinking about changing my '97's. Got to see many tips by searching the forum, lol. XKRacer I love yours specially from 45° angle, wonder if they fit a gen1 XK8. I would love the quad pipes "a la" 997 but I need to look at many examples, specially after seing so many gorgeous oval ones. On my 987c I have the Porsche sports tail pipes (one to two) which I like. I attached a pic and I understand it can't fit but it's from that setup that I came to think about the quad pipes ont the cat.

I'm going to change my tips also. Went into the garage and removed the mufflers and tips. It was quite easy for a 14 year old car. I would love the 6 inch or 5 inch but I'm effraid they wont fit an early model. The original tips are 2 3/8" high x 3 1/8" wide and I figure there is about one inch clearance either side. I will go for these:
*2.25" 2 1/4 Oval Stainless Steel Exhaust Tip Tips Pair on eBay.ca (item 160540509785 end time 03-Apr-11 00:14:46 EDT)
Mainly because they have a 2.25" inlet. The pipes on the mufflers measure at 2.1450". These tips will fit better and will be easier to weld (I think).
