Default HELP : P1111 - Sensor switch time

Hello,

I connected an obd2 device to my 98 xk8 conv and used the torque paid app on android to check for fault codes. I do not see any lights on the dash, and the workshop manual I purchased say the following about P1111 - System checks complete since last memory clear. OBD diagnostic monitors have completed, No action necessary.

However in the attached screenshot, I do see 2 failed tests. How should I interpret the failure and what do i need to do to make sure I'm not making the situation worse by driving the car around.

Thanks
-Bhaskar

To my knowledge, none of those screenshots translate to actual OBDII codes that we can research and address. Are you certain that the particular torque app you are running is indeed appropriate for your specific vehicle?

The code is P1111 - powertrain. P1111 from the manual says it was a pending fault. I used a generic obd2 connector
Amazon Amazon

and the Torque app on android
https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...orque&hl=en_US

When I saw the P1111 - I went ahead and did a "scan for faults" which resulted in the earlier screen shot.

This thread on XJ models suggest, the code can't be erased.

P1111 is the generic "all clear - no current faults detected" code for all automotive OBDII systems. It is normal....

I have NO reference for TID $05..
TID $06 is Evap System Leak Detected (20 thou) kPa....(VERY SMALL LEAK)

TID $08 (40 thou) kPa Leak Detected,....... Your ok with this one..
TID $07 (Gross Leak) kPa Leak Detected,.....Dont see this on your screen shot

Your P1111 suggest's all is good, but you may have a small evap leak..
Maybe some one has a reference for TID $05

The EVAP leap rings a bell. I took the car out for a drive with the intent to test it. After a few times of hard acceleration, I did smell gas. could that be related?

I hadn't noticed TID $07 missing. Thank you for responding.

Might be worth having a look at fuel trims in case something like an air leak shows up.

Have a look at your petrol/gas cap..,is it a good tight fit.. and has it got a good seal with no petrol/gas smell...
You shouldn't be smelling petrol/gas at any time, ...(only when filling up)

I checked out all the fuel trims, short term and long term, oddly they had a +/- 5% trim but nothing alarming and I've not driven the car at all other than a few trips around the block since I got it. I'll give it some time and see if it improves.

Next week I will check out the evap solenoid for the leak.

You have no DTC's...so you dont have a problem with your car...
You wont make the situation worse by driving the car..
Actually if you drive it and then check mode $6 again all could be a PASS (all green)..its a ongoing component check.
It will let you know when its not happy by giving you the relevant DTC..

But do try to sort out that petrol smell...

As they say "DRIVE IT LIKE YOU KNOW A SHOP WITH TOILET ROLL IN STOCK"
