Default Help with thermostat tower leak

Finally traced back an annoying leak to the top of the thermostat tower.Seems the metal connector ( L shaped) picks up the hose that returns to the coolant tank. Leak is where the L piece fits into the tower.Didnt want to break anything by just pulling on it.Perhaps someone knows how to remove and what kind of sealant is used. Thanks in advance, will try to post a picture of the area.

It’s the tall piece at about 11 o clock on the photo.

You need to replace the thermostat housing, it's a common fault a search will find a lot of info.
There is an aluminium housing available for the early cars but you need to use the OEM plastic unit. (might be a good idea to list the car details in your signature)

Here is a thread documenting the replacement thanks to RD https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...ng-how-148856/

Hey dave, how did you ID the leak? I'm hunting for a slow leak from somewhere, will take all the info I can collect.

Thanks, John

I just did mine, I got it from SNG Barratt part #AJ89486 $123.37 all in including the forum discount.
I didn't take the cover plate off. Here's a link to their page. https://www.sngbarratt.com/us/#!/Eng...b-f82e6a297bc5

Hey john,I am a plumber by trade,so I took the primitive approach.Filled the coolant tank to about 3/4 full and used about 14 psi from my compressor to pressurize system.I had a old coolant tank cap with a homemade valve to feed air into system.I did it cold and removed the plastic intake cover-that revealed the leak.Kind of funky set up,but it worked for me.Just delighted it wasn’t one of the valley hoses. That will be my next project.
