Hey TECHS, what's up with this???
1997 XK8 Conv as you know. Over the last months I get sporadic engine faults, gearbox faults, then they go away and car can be driven fine for weeks.
Well yesterday it went gearbox/engine/traction control fualt all at once.
Took it to a shop, they say there are NO CODES on the computer!!!!! How is this, those faults don't throw codes to be read???? I have not removed the battery cables so codes have not be washed away.
Could a weak battery cause these issues??

Sorry I am not tech but the same thing has happened to my car and it was a low voltage issue. I also had "Cruise Not Available", malfunctioning of the security module (alarm would go off as the pasenger door would unlock itself after arming) and the window loss of memory issue, all at different times. If you have a multimeter or voltmeter check to see if your battery is producing 14.4V, if not that is probably your answer.

Well the car acted for them. They ran the scan tool as a jag can?? No codes. They then went in as a obii scan read and got p1242 and p1229 which is some type of tb issue. I faield to mention here that i never got a check engine light. Just seems that when it throws the fault codes those can't be read!?!?!?!?!? So at this point they are checkign into other related things, see what is up.

shop is proclaimingthe throttle body to be shot. Going the rebld the one on my car route. Jag wants $2100 for a new one for the car. Shop says rebld is better then buying new as the rbld will be done with better components/extronics vrs the new one is still using inferior parts!?!?!
Sway bar up front also needs new bushings so getting that tackled also.
