I have a 97 XK8 and the fog light lenses are shot and I don't want to replace with factory as they're ridiculously expensive. Since the the headlights, low beams, are very dim, instead of retrofitting them for HID, I'm going to fit a fog light kit and was considering HID for the fog lights instead and running them with the standard headlights. Anyone know or have experience about using HID for custom fog light housings?

 

One month ago I switched my 2004 XK8 over to HID in the low beams and the fog lamps. I just took it for a night drive around the neighbourhood as it she is stored for the winter and no road insurance. (Quiet Neigbourhood). The change in the low beams was significant, very much brighter. Fog lights I would not do again as I could see no noticeable difference.

 

daro31, what HID kit did you use for the fog lights? The way it is now, I don't have any fog lights. I thought HID's might do the trick and leave the main headlights alone???

 

I only replaced the bulbs into the existing housings, the kit was just ballasts and replacement bulbs.

 

I'm sure I'll need to replace the entire housing as the lenses are totally worn out. We get sand storms here in the desert and you can't even see through the glass. Anyone find a retrofit kit for the housing? Maybe the dimensions of the fog light?
