Default HID levelling sensor

Hi,

While working under my car recently I have kind of fallen down the rabbit hole with new jobs to do. One of which is the headlight levelling sensor... mine is missing from the front suspension and the connector is simply dangling inside the wheel arch.

Weirdly this does not appear to chuck up any codes or warnings.

Seems like a pretty simple job to put one in anyway but I'm not entirely sure what parts I might be missing aside from the sensor itself. The workshop manual does not show anything comprehensive.

If anyone happens to be working on their car with the front wheels off could you take a quick snap for me so i can see how the whole lot goes together?

Thanks,

Owen

This is the set-up on my 2003. Notice the plastic push rivets which probably failed on yours.

XKR.

Thank you so much for this!

The complete assembly is missing from mine. No brackets or anything so seems I have quite a bit to find. You can buy the sensor itself easy enough but I think the brackets will be a scrap yard job.

I could see the holes on the vertical beam so presumed the sensor attached there but couldn't work out where the other end of the arm attached.

Your suspension looks super clean! Put me to shame!

Oh crap, this thread made me realize that mine is also broken. Although I do have brackets, I am missing that rod that actuates it. Perhaps that's why I feel my headlights aim too low.

I thought this would be a quick job to tick off my list but looking online there is no sign of the brackets readily available. Sensors yes but everything else is going to be a headache 🤦‍♂️

You can try to make your own bracket? It doesn't look like a complex shape.

True.

Just depends how much flexibility there is in the calibration to compensate for the imperfection of the brackets.

giandanielxk8,

I also lost that connecting rod but it was on my rear HID sensor. I couldn't buy one anywhere so made one from Rose bearings. see pics

There’s a rear sensor? Where is it located? I hope I at least have that one intact.

Yea, haven't checked if mine is there yet either. Concentrating on the front end first.

Both are listed here:

Just noticed the rear one appears to come with the brackets but the front one does not... real useful!

More pics of the rear sensor from a different perspective.
