Default HID light parts

My 2003 XKR has the hid light option.

Is there a diagram/list of replacement bulbs for all sections?

Thanks!

If you go to the SNG Barratt web site (forum sponsor) you can download the XK parts manual. Pages 109 and 110 have a complete list of all of the bulbs

dsd, I just replaced my low beam HID with new ones from HIDNation.com...The Bulb is a D1S and the pair cost $69.99....After 11 or so years, I figured what the heck order some new ones and see if they will be brighter! They are about 40% brighter than the old ones.....I also replaced the Fog Lights with Sylvania Silver Star zKe's they are H1's and cost about $40 bucks a pair....Super bright White light! 50 to 60% brighter than whatever is in there now......then, if you want to go all the way.....replace the High beams with LED's......They're about 100% brighter than the Halogen's that came in it.....

Damn good info, Billy Clyde. Thanks! My HIDs have been slightly flickering for a long time. One time the left bulb went out altogether, but I was able to restore it by turning the headlights off and back on again. Do you think this is a bulb problem or a ballast problem? Do you have an affordable source for the ballast?

Thanks again - Jim

Jim,

Go to HIDNation.com for D1S HID Bulbs $69.99 Pair. Free Shipping! Why mess around with Ballasts? Get the whole thing Brand new! Sounds like with all the flickering, you have a problem with them anyway! The new ones are 30% to 40% brighter than the old ones that came with the Jag......after all, they were almost 12 years old! Your's are almost 15 at this point...Time to go for the EndZone my friend! I threw my old ones in the trash!

Sorry guys, I guess I'm dense. Below is a picture of my headlight and the 4 bulbs that I am aware of (numbered 1 - 4). Right now, I need bulb 2, but would love to associate a bulb type (or jaguar part number) and function with all numbers.

Any assistance would be amazing!

dsd,
#1. Turn Signal Bulb - 12496 or 1156 (Amber)
#2. Parking Light Bulb - 2825 (This Bulb fits Side Markers & Side Blinkers)
#3. High Beams - 9005 Halogen or Sylvania Silver Star zKe's (Super Bright White)
#4. Low Beams - HID D1S
#5. Fog Lights - H1 Halogen or Sylvania Silver Star zKe's (Super Bright White

If you really want to go all out, get an LED Kit for the High Beams...They cost around $60.00 to $100.00. You don't have to worry about he length of the LED as the High Beams only have a reflector and the actual Headlight Glass is the cover. I have installed the LED's from Superbrightleds.com and they cost about $75 to $80 bucks....
Man they are "BRIGHT".....Good Luck to you!

Hey Billy Clyde, do those HIDNation D1S HID Bulbs "include" the ballasts? I ask because the price their two bulbs is less than what I've seen for just one ballast.

I just ordered a pair (4300k).

I do not believe they would include the balllast. As best I can make out the Jag HID contains 3 parts:

The Valeo LAD5G ballast. The ballast to bulb cable. The D1S bulb.

Thanks DSD. I'm pretty sure I can figure out how to replace the bulbs, but even with diagrams and poking around the car, I have no idea where the ballasts are nor how to get them out.

I was looking at this last night and am not 100% sure. One thread said it's right under the headlight assembly and replaceable after its removed. The other indicated bumper needed to come off (that may have been on an x350 though).

I'm going to replace the bulbs as a first step. Step 2 would be ballast research (valeo part available as a Chrysler part).

Default HID ballast location

Check GGG's post:

Valeo LAD5G $179.99 each on Amazon US.

I'll be sticking with my candle in a jamjar arrangement.

Lightbulb

Guys,
The D1S HID Bulbs that came from HIDNation come with a starter that the Bulb fits into. They look like a little box with the HID Bulb sticking-up out of it....$69.99 a pair and you can choose the brightness. I got 6000K ....The type of bulb that usually comes factory installed is probably about 4000K...as ours were. The Ballast is somewhere under the lights, all you have to do is follow the cable from the connection on the back of the light to the Ballast...HID Nation has Ballast for $99.00 each......I didn't get the Ballast as they seldom wear-out...As I said earlier, my HID's are at least 30% brighter than the old ones. I was in love again, until I got LED's for the High Beams....had to install a Kit but man do they reach out there......Now I really love them.....Now, I can see almost forever...........!

New 4300k HIDs are in as well as new 2825 parking lights.

I took the wheel off for the HID for the extra room. Really easy job. So far so good. Hopefully this cures the pulsing flickering I've seen. If not, it's new ballasts and I may revisit the lighting options.

Again, thanks!

By all means DSD - "Please" let us (me) know if it cures the flickering. I hate fixing things that ain't broke, and I've put up with the flickering for years now because I couldn't figure out what was causing it. To tell you the truth, I've been waiting for something to "fail"!

Good luck,
