The Sepang wheels are perfect for the XK8, IMO, because although they are huge and therefore aggressive, their design is classy, almost sedate. If they were 15", they would look really 'old man'.
It's this kind of contrast I appreciate in our cars: huge, politically-incorrect V8 engine, but in a classic, non-threatening body (especially when painted baby blue like mine).

I have a saved search on UK eBay for Sepangs. They are very sought after by Jaguar and Range Rover owners. A full set in condition 7/10 with no tyres went for over £900 a couple of days ago. A set in very average condition, requiring refurbing and probably 4 new SS trims sold for £535 tonight.

Having owned a series 3 E-Type 5.3 convertible a few years back I have recently bought a 2004 XKR convertible with 22k miles,(in Dec 2012) it is still 'new' to me as at this time of year it hasn't seen much action....I will make up for it!
Having owned both, I see the striking resemblance, especially the front end....TIMELESS.
We have to take into account that the 'E' went out of production in 1974 and yes, the handling was c**p but they looked great!
The XKR model that went out of production in early 2006 is a fantastic car....sorry, the later ones don't look as good (my opinion).

That said, I did get to drive a 2013 XKR a few months back and it did make mine feel dated.

Agree completely. The X150 is too 'ordinary' looking; it could be made by any manufacturer including - dare I say - Hyundai, and the dash could have been designed by Ford. As for the XKR-S, it's just way too aggressive and vulgar. The 'gentleman driver' element has been lost.

That said, I did get to drive a 2013 XKR a few months back and it did make mine feel dated.

I may have to hope and get lucky on eBay like I did several years ago... I had a new black Passat at the time and came across a set of silver 18" wheels off a Phaeton there from a take-off tire shop in AZ who didn't know what he had. $500 for the set new! They were the business on that car when I threw on some Bilsteins at the same time. 75% savings off dealer MSRP.

If I lived in California I would probably have a vert but I live in Canada and a coupe is more practical.
