For what its worth, and hopefully yours was just a low battery, I got a couple of very brief RP messages very randomly and for only a few seconds at a time over a several week period. Each time when I got home I would plug the car into my scanner only to find no codes!
Just the other day the RP message came on and stayed on and finally gave me a misfire code which turned out to be due to a bad coil. The car would occasionally miss under load so it seems like it must have been on its way out for a while and only got bad enough to finally trigger a code, though it seems odd that it would have triggered the RP message (I guess it must have a lower reporting threshold.)
I'm fairly confident that was what was causing the earlier messages as I have not gotten any more RP messages since replacing the coil.

This is the downside of modern vehicles with extensive computer engine management systems--the dumbing down of mechanics. I still remember with my first car (1963 Pontiac) where I was so impressed when I drove into the local mechanic and in the brief time when I drove in and the mechanic walked to the car he knew what was wrong by just listening.
Granted those older vehicles needed constant tinkering and the engine efficiency and reliability was nowhere near today's standards. But now you have mechanics who rely almost entirely on reading and interpreting some code for a problem rather than rely on his wits and experience. Perfect example is with the 1995 Corvette I owned for 14 years. During that time there were a couple of instances of chronic miss problems at low rpm under load. In fact this was a very typical problem with these engines and whenever I wander back to the Corvette Forum there are always endless threads like "LT-1 missing" or "LT-1 hesitation", etc. Those threads sometimes went on for hundreds of posts since the various code readers and analytical tools would often find nothing wrong so the owners ended up randomly chasing down things ranging from replacing the optispark ignition, replacing wires, replacing plugs, replacing fuel filter and on and on. There were guys who literally replaced everything possible and never solved the problem--so much for the OBDII diagnostics.
