Pop rivet a strip of aluminium across the inside of the liner where the break is.
You need to decide if you want to try to keep the horrible plastic fastener in which case you'll need a hole in the al strip big enough to let the fastener through and do some filing to make the slots the fastener locks into or do what I did and make a little al cage holding a stainless steel M6 nut which is held in place by one pair of pop rivets and use an M6 bolt + washer to hold the access panel in place.

Thank you steveinfrance. Instead of alluminium what do you think about rigid plastic across the break ? I lost on the road the horrible olastic cover that you are talking about, so I must buy another one.
something with thermoplastic ?

Anything solid will do, you could use plastic and self-tapping screws (plastic + pop rivets probably not a good idea).
When you order the 'trap door' the fastener doesn't come with it - great idea eh!! so decide if you're going to try to resurrect a fastener slot (in which case order a fastener as well) or use a bolt.
I much prefer a bolt - far more positive.
ps - put your car details in your signature so we can help better.

Plus the product 5200 made by 3M might be useful. It is a marine glue with incredible strength. You might want to substitute the screws or pop rivets with this.

Whereabouts in 'Jag World' are you located?

If it's in Europe, new wheelarch liners are available from parts clearance stockists or used ones from specialist Jaguar breakers at low cost.

One of the remoter outposts of Jag World!
I drove down to Lucca last summer and have driven to Amalfi in the past but never got as far south as the boot.

For new XK8 wheelarch liners:

GROWLER JAGUAR PARTS - XK8 & XK (New)

LH and RH liners are about half way down the list in the right column.

Two specialist UK Jaguar breakers:

JoJags Direct The UK Number One Jaguar Outlet

EuroJag, The Premier Jaguar Parts Supplier.

There are several other Jaguar breakers in England but these are probably the largest. Both have been advertising XK8's in for breaking recently.
