How Do XK8/ XKR Owners Feel About The XF Are Any Of You Considering Buying One ?

I've got 101K on my '98 XK8 conv. Thanks to this forum I feel comfortable trying DIY projects. My '07 x-type is another story. I get nervous changing wiper blades. My warranty expires 2/2013. I don't want to own a newer Jag without a warranty. There are no newer certified used x-types so I'm going to be looking real hard at certified '11 XF's. The wife likes the size and ride of the x-type. I'm going to have to help the salesman convince her the XF is just as good or better. Jack

Buick has always stolen design cues from Jaguar.
I really like the XF even w/out it screaming Jaguar. There are a few black ones in the area. I saw my first current XJ whispering by me in Martha's Vineyard last fall...gawd she's pretty.
But as much as I hate to say it I'd rather own the top of the line loaded Buick LaCrosse than an XF. I had one for a week in Fl...really one heck of a car.
I still miss my 96 VDP and would like to find another one and/or an 86-87 XJ-6 sedan or an XJ6C if possible.

Sometimes when I drive past an XF in my "proper jaguar" ;-) - a shiny black '02 XKR, I think "I bet they are looking at mine thinking, "gosh what a beautiful car", whereas, looking at theirs I am thinking. "Is that a new Mondeo / Lexus / Nissan / Honda or what...?"
I'll be keeping my XKR forever, I believe it is the flagship model of the last of the true jaguars and is bound to be an appreciating classic (if it isn't already). The XF is just so..... normal and well, it all feels a bit soul-less (IMHO)
The XK, particularly the R is one of the last great cars from a bygone era, you'd have to buy an Aston or something now to feel so special! Keep it! :-)
