ungn - maybe different for non-UK cars, but on my 1997 XK8, the boot (trunk) lock works no problem.
Might be worth double-checking yours not blocked up or something.
Not trying to be clever or facetious, but it's not really likely that Jaguar fitted a keyhole with a blank sheet of metal behind it.

It's possible there was an idiot in the past that fitted a new XK8 emblem over the lock assy, but everything appear original.
I will heat gun off the emblem and check.

It's probably very rare, but in a bad way.
It still could be that the emblem was applied by an idiot, but the emblem appears original.

I think that's on the wrong side. The XK8 badge should be on the right-hand side and there should be a 'Jaguar' badge on the left.

I wonder if there's been a repair done at some time in the past.
Edit - Have a look at post #116 here - a member called Rezzz's car - it also looks like you might have an extra welded seam on your car.
