Oh you're fine best thing to do is get something you want - I also looked at the coupe since it's less maintenance and fear about the top having issues but they are super rare here.. but yeah it's all good hope your car is working out! You guys want to hear something funny/sad? I took my car to the local Jaguar dealership and they offered $15K for it...

Anyway I have a few people interested but.. kind of shocking how low that offer was.. I get it - these are older cars but still.. a little depressing.

matthew,

try ebay...and put a reserve on it. you never know. people WANT XK & XKR's

also, the car that almost hit me is sitting on the inside double white line of MY space. that's how close he is. literally an inch from mine. i think he was high. and i actually thought of this post when he did that!

oh my gosh I would be.. like I don't even know how you got in your car being that close! I used to sell auto parts for Infiniti and a few times I had to buy parts for used Jaguar cars that came in..so even a fender or fender liner would be really $$$$! Hopefully your car is ok.. that is SUPER close!

Like I said..I have a neighbor.. she's super young (owned 4 cars and she's totaled all 4) and she was walking out to her car across the street. A neighbors car was parked right behind her.. she hops in.. blasts the radio so loud I can hear it inside the house and then she backs right into that car with a shocked look on her face.

*crunch!*

Anyway it's amazing how people do that.. either leaving a shopping cart parked right by my car or one time I had someone parked the rear of their sedan/vehicle so close in front of my front bumper when they tried to get something out of the trunk they were stretched over their drivers side quarter panel trying to get luggage out while I was sitting in the car.. watching heavy luggage dangling over my XKR emblem.. all I can do is sit there frozen thinking if I start the car it might scare them.. or should I offer to help or.. anyway just some serious stupid people out there.

Anyway this is embarrassing but I've never sold a car in person or used Ebay but I might have to do that.. it's listed on cars.com and last I checked mine is one of the lowest mileage/cleanest..yet cheapest listed... but yeah I'll have to do that I'd have to pay my local Jaguar dealership to take my car if I sold it to them. I dunno frustrating but thanks for the advice I'll look into ebay.

I've sold on craigslist, even nice stuff. Given the low mileage, BringATrailler might be an option. My car was actually a failed ebay sale that the seller then put on craigslist, and I bought from him for only a few hundred more than the not meeting reserve ebay price (he said the fees from ebay made my only $400 more price way more).

I bought my XJR off of AutoTrader from a dealer who took it in trade towards a Lexus (they were a premium Japanese used car dealer) and they had no interest in it, and their customer base was definitely not interested. I basically let him make about $500 total on the car; he said cost, but come on, he's a car dealer!

66,000 on my 2003 XKR. The drivetrain is solid but some of the minor systems seam to be going through a "mid-life crisis".

It's a mere baby! Make sure to keep some diapers handy. Does it still need to be breast fed?

Enjoy!

I'll be driving passed RIC today. Be sure to wave. ;-)

Very near to 87,800. Not too unreasonable considering it's a '98!!

Absolutely!
I just love people who buy these upscale cars, maintain them meticulously, but only drive them when the weather is perfect; all the while their value is depreciating off a cliff! Then I come along in a few years and say, "Thank you for taking such good care of my car", pay pennies on the dollar for it, and then drive (and enjoy) it everyday.

Kitty now has over 204K miles on her. Queuing her up for a new oil cooler hose, another water pump (third) new belts and fresh MERCON SP in the tranny the next time I put her on the lift.

Drive those babies! Just keep an eye on things and fix whatever comes up. A down day now and then for fixes and preventative maintenance will pay dividends.

Late 2002 4.2 xkr purchased 2011 at about 40k and immediately converted to propane. Tragically destroyed in an accident - my fault - at 140,000 and running sweet at the time (May 2017)
