Hi Use mine everyday woul, fuel consumption has improved with a few tweeks, from 19mpg to 24mpg, latest and largest improvement fitting Denso iridium plugs- well worth the cost.

 

Bought mine last summer for my wife with 37,000 miles on it. Now has 41,000 miles on it. Our other car is a XJ6 that is somewhat our primary car. But actually we both like to drive both cars. The XJ6 has 110,000 miles on it.

I'll be using mine as a daily driver, but I don't have to worry about snow, and my commute is only ten miles round trip. I do try to drive my '91 XJ-S V-12 at least one day a week.

 

Bought my 2002 XKR about a year and a half ago, and have used it as a daily driver ever since, except on days where I have to carry a lot of merchandise where my Buick Enclave or Chrysler Pacifica take over. The Enclave uses a full tank of gas for every day that it's driven, so the XKR at nearly 20 mpg in the city and more than 25 mpg on the freeway actually is my economy car. I have put about 20K miles on the car in the year and a half.

 

I've enjoyed commuting in this car enough that down the road, if it remains reliable, I'll be more than happy to replace it with another XKR. I'd also say a lot of people here have similar sentiments.

 

I have found that I am now using my 2000 conv. full time. I am thinking about getting a coupe for the winter here in Chicago. How are they in the snow?

 

I bought my 2008 XK about six months ago and I drive it every day (unless we are expecting especially bad weather) I drive 35 minutes each way to work and I make sure to drop the top on each and every one of the beautiful summer mornings we have here in South Carolina.

BTW, I have the only XK for miles around. The looks, thumbs "up", and positive comments I get almost every day makes the experience that much better....

 

I did it for 3 months in West Michigan. I'd prefer not to do that to a car I like though. It worked well, I had Toyo snow tires all around and was never stuck. The weird part was being done stopping and having the car move a few inches afterward, almost curbed it parking more than once. The ASC and ABS worked well but I'd have to say that my e38 7-Series is fantastic in snow while the Jaguar was much less fun in it.

If we need to take the kids my wifes MGZS180, with a wing so big she could iron on it, takes the strain.

 

Drive every day. Mileage back and forth to work isn't but 5 miles total. When I drive up to see the grandkids, it is about 160 mile round trip (every 2 weeks). Mileage is somewhere around 23-25 mpg. Beats the Heck out of the Jeep, that stiff Jeep suspension just beats the s... out of me. The Jag is also more reliable and much better on gas (17 mpg Jeep) than the Jeep. The Jeep is my Winter car. Don't know if I like the 255 wheels and 'no real tread' in the snow and sleet. Besides I enjoy the wind in the hair...

 

600-700 miles a week usually, almost all freeway miles. 35,000 in the 20 months I've owned it. A few repairs/replacements. Due for tires and front suspension overhaul now.

 

2011 XKR Vert - Not only a daily driver but I tend to just go driving down the coast at lunch time, or on the interstate and zoom...I have an unusual obsession that I did not have with my 760LI or any other car - at 46, it must be my mid life car, and I always wanted a convertible...

 

I've driven mine 4-5 times per week until recently. It's interesting how driving different cars can affect your perception on one versus the other. As much as I like the Jag (99 XK8 conv) I got a killer deal from a friend on a 2005 Mercedes SL500 about 8 months ago. Completely different car I know, but the main thing that it made me realize is how much better they could have built the seats in the Jag. The lack of support/shape of the front seats is something that continues to bother me, in addition to some of the cheap interior materials. Other than that, in terms of exterior styling, driveability, acceleration, etc, I still like the car very much. And as many of you have mentioned, there are a lot of "thumbs up" that you get in an XK8. One guy drove up beside me at a light and said "Man....you're living my dream!" in reference to me driving his dream car. I don't think people realize you can go get one for about $10K these days....people still think they are luxury cars with a luxury price tag. Probably the best thing about these cars is how much car you're getting for your money in the 99-02 year range. I've got 101K on mine and it's doing well.....after chasing a few restricted performance issues (plugs / MAF / fuel pressure regulator).

 

2003, daily driver for my wife mainly. About 12k a year.

 

I drive mine everyday; she just turned 75K. Since having the timing chains, tensioners, breather tube cleaned, tb cleaned, water pump and hoses replaced...she runs great and at about 27mpg at 70 plus (at times...). Luv it!

 

I work from home so I only put about 3,000 miles a year on mine, but it's definitely my daily driver starting about April through October. I try not to drive it in snow/salt here in Minnesota. 73k on the clock, and probably another 8yrs before it hits 100,000 at my usage.

I've never gotten better than 23mpg with my XKR convertible. I'm probably road tripping it to Detroit from Minneapolis so if I can figure out a way to pick up 3-4mpg, it would make a pretty big dent in my fuel costs.

Well, I suppose I could take the bike and get 60... but a 12hr ride isn't my idea of a real fun time, haha.

 

Mine is a daily driver - 6 miles each way. Although I will probably end up babying it for a while now once it comes back from the bodyshop - it's in getting a full respray (Lunar Grey LJZ) and having later-model bumper copies fitted (UK company by name of Paragon)

Generally when I park the car, it's either in a 'corner spot' or else at the far end of the car park away from numpties.

 

what are numpties?

 

How are you guys getting 27 mpg? I average 17.5 and that's the best I can do. ??
