How to match new Remotes/Module to 2001 XKR?
I've been asked by a colleague helping him out with his problem:
On his 4.0L XKR Model 2001 from the US, the Module responsible for the remote controls had to be replaced and now the remotes don't work on his car anymore.
I'm using a Mongoose Clone with SDD tying to find an option getting this fixed.
My problem: the automatic VIN detection does not work on the car (which I interpret as a potential sign of communication problem?)
When entering the VIN manually, only few options become available (ABS, ECU, some Secrurity Stuff), however this is not perfomed by SDD but automatically handed over to the legacy diag software.
With the legacy sw I e.g could register new Key Transponders to the car, but no option seems available for the remotes.
What do I do wrong here? Am I missing something?

Yes, I know the procedure using the flash switch :-)
It's more the (replaced) receiver module which seems not known/accepted by the car.
The Module in question is in the trunk, deep down in an electronic box next to the battery. Should I take a picture?

Hi gemts,
it took quite a while because of too much other stuff...
Over the weekend I removed the SLM from the trunk. According to the owner of the car, the car came to him with the wrong version of SLM Module, and he sourced the correct one matching the VCATS list.
I can confirm both keyfobs and module are the 433MHz version. Keyfobs have been tested with an 433MHz RF Tester.
However: I can put the car into learning mode using the Flasher Stick procedure, but there's no reaction when pushing the buttons on the remote(s).
Second: when using my inofficial version of SDD with a Mongoose Clone, I can't even read the VIN from the car (this worked fine some time ago with another X100 which was MJ 2002)
I would like to limit the number of potential problems somehow.
1. Not beeing able reading the VIN via SDD -> Is this a sign of communication problem, or because the car is too old (2001)?
2. As the installed SLM seems the correct type, but not from THIS car originally -> Does this need re-programming matching it to the car?
Everything else beside the remote keyfob operation does work fine on the car. No messages / no DTCs.
I already checked the PCBs inside the SLM and resoldered the connectors. I spotted that the receiver circuit is separate from the rest. So in principle it should be possible sourcing an US 315MHz SLM and just replace the receiver circuit by the 433MHz version...
Would this sound a good plan in case (2.) is not the issue?

The SLM pictured is the later type with the bulb fail sensing integrated LJE2600BB / LJE2600BC. The chip on the receiver PCB (TDA5200) is for the European market, so 433MHz receiver.
This pairs with the later fob (the RHS one in motorcarman's pic.). Part # for that fob is LJE2610BB
Early fobs are LJA2610BA or LJA2610BB
Hope this makes sense!
