how to top up your diff oil

OK, my pinion seal is leaking and I need to keep the diff topped up till I can get the car booked in to change the oil seal in two weeks.
Sounds simple, started the job at 5 this evening, and finally finished two hours later
The problem is that access to the top up plug is very, very limited, I tried a 1/2 inch wobbly, but by the time the plug was half way out the back of the wobbly was fowling against part of the sub frame. In the end I had to cut off the end of an old 1/2 inch socket set extension and then grind it square, total length was 20mm. I used this in a 14mm ratchet spanner to get access and remove the plug. I then used a small hand pump to pump the new oil up into the diff.
What a royal pain in the ****. In the end about a 1/3 of a litre went in.
This is all you can see of the plug!

Getting the plug back in is just as much a pain, I wedged the plug onto the 1/2 inch bar with a bit of card so that it could be held in place before screwing it in.
