That site and the pressure relief valve is run/supplied by a very valued member on here - Gus - several members have installed the valve successfully - it is one of a number of ways to try and dodge the green shower. If you search the forum you'll find plenty of info on the valve.

I purchased the valve kit from Gus and had no isuues with the green shower (as yet!). The kit is well engineered, has excellent instructions, and is easy to install. It won't help if you the hoses are deteriorated, though. I took off the top strip over the area where the latch is located, and the hoses seemed to be in good shape, so I'm hoping that this will turn out to be a (relatively) inexpensive insurance policy.

Gus and his website are a fantastic resource for this forum.

Ditto for me! I installed it as a preventative measure as well.

I installed one for a customer. He purchased it from Gus and also the stainless braided lines. The lines were way too long but I coiled them under the drivers floor carpet forward of the seat. (better than too short!!)

Installation was easy for the pressure valve.

Default Piece of Cake

I installed the valve on my 04 XKR this spring. It's real simple, the kit is very high quality, and Gus has explicit instructions on his website. It took me about 45 minutes using simple hand tools. Didn't spill a drop and the top still cycles the same as it did before the valve. Cycled the top all summer with no problems.

The hardest part was getting the Pump out from under the rear Quarter as the XKR has a a taller box because of the Nav. Drive addition, and the pump sits up under the trunk lip on the quarter. A non Nav car will be real easy. Once you have it out you will need to have a box the correct height to set the pump on as the hoses and wiring will not reach far enough to get it down to trunk floor level.

Default Hydraulic Pressure relief valve

I installed the PRV about 3 years ago and not had a problem since. I put the top down often in San Diego.

PLUS 1! Works great!
Had mine for a year and with that and the new hoses I never even give it a second thought on putting the top down. Do it much more now that I have peace of mind. Also, I can't recommend the remote up/down for the top enough as well. Love having the top going down as I approach the car or going up when I'm walking away. High cool factor. see thejagwrangler.com

Goodonya Norri

Thanks

Picked up the car tonight from it's 110,000 km service and some oil leak fixes ( previous owners mech did a brilliant job on the timing chains but bought cheap crappy cam cover seals. Rock hard and so never sealed properly) and we were chatting about the green shower.
His dad has an XK8 and it just did it.
He was saying how he used to buy a valve relief kit from IS or LS industries over in the US and he was sure they were no longer made.

I told him that I had seen something on this forum just today.

Great work guys , I will let him know and contact Gus in the meantime
