I am almost convinced that the problem is a vacuum leak. The restricted performance message only comes in while I'm doing city driving. After 10 or 15b minutes at highway speed, it clears, but comes back after I stop or start city driving speeds again. Also, if I accelerate too quickly driving at city speeds, the car jerks a little. Currently I'm in the extreme north western corner of New Mexico, near Four Corners, NM. My plan it to continue my drive to Richland, WA, driving 5 or 6 hours per day and arrive in Richland on Sunday. I have found a couple of independent shops that will work on Jags. As I will be in Richland for at least 3 weeks, I should be able to get it fixed while I'm in Richland. If anyone has any pull with the great Jag Mechanic in the sky, put a good word in for me that I mage it to Richland. There are Jag dealers in both Salt Lake City and Boise, Id and I have a AAA membership with extended towing, just in case (thanks for the advice Jon89). The car has generally been running ok, as long as I don't try to accelerate too fast.
