Default I thought it was only rumors about the new Jaguar design

It seems that Jaguar is coming out with a completely new line of JAGS coming in 2016. I thought it was only rumors but it seems it's very real.

Check out the picture here of the new SUV Jags...Photos Jag 2016

A cool design or not?

This SUV was at the Los Angeles car show in December (I think) in the "flesh." It seemed to be quite handsome with an aggressive stance. I'm sure it will do well.

I think the SUV looks great, but it kinda goes against what Jaguar stands for? maybe is just me, but it be a little getting used to seeing a "Service Utility Vehicle" as a Jag.

Doesn't do it for me either. Maybe it will grow on me when I can pick up a nice used one for 20k

Look's like every other crossover out there, not really a Jag.

Looks like all the other SUV's out there - I'm sure they're all the same car just with a different grill (result of emissions regulations and CAD programs I've been lead to believe)

The inside looks nice though.......

I dislike the newer cars, because I'm a fan of wood grain and good quality leather and comfort. For what Jaguar charge their customers, you can get a lot more with a competitor at cheaper pricing.

To me the leather is thin, seats are not as comfortable, and no wood grain or detail put into the interior.

way too little form over too much substance...soon it's going to be down to Morgan Aero for me...preserving substance while not sacrificing the form

In guess some people are slow to the mark. Jaguar has made the decision to go into a way different direction than they were on when they developed our cars. "Traditionalists" like us don't much like some of it, but it is what it is.
I might add that our cars began development somewhere in the early to mid 1990's, so we are talking about twenty years ago.

I like it, but agree it looks like a Mazda. I'd still pick it over an Audi Q5. But I would have neither because they lack character, charm, or real utility. That's why I'm still ad-surfing for a 1995 Range Rover Classic... which are a tenth the price...

I'm also sad to hear of the apparent loss of the XK (for now) in the next year or two. I really love what they did with the front facias these last couple years, and hope to pick up one of those as a daily in several years.

The more things change, the closer to legit classic status we become.

Thumbs down

I don't connect the dots from Jaguar to crossover SUV. They are to our Jags as the 4 door Porsche is to the 911.

It comes down to survival of the species and corporate economics.

Land Rover have been through exactly the same thing recently with the introduction of the Land Rover Evogue. I am embarrassed to even see the Land Rover Badge on that vehicle. The same thing goes for the new child in the Jaguar family.

There is a demand and a market for these SUV vehicles and Jaguar, like Land Rover have to cash in on this market for the survival of the company and a brand as a whole. As purists, we cringe when we see these new designs rolling off the production floor, however change is inevitable. Look at the 2007 onwards XKR's, they don't have that classic finish and trim that we were used to with the pre 2006 models. Modern materials are now being used alongside with the modern look. We are just going to have to get used to it, sad as it may seem.

So, all we can do is hold on to our existing vehicles, with the classic looks and all the wood trim, love and cherish these vehicles because soon they will be true classics.

Change! Change! Change! YUK! I don't care if it is a nice car or not. That thing is not what Jaguar is about and has been about since they started building cars. This is putting Jag in competition with some other car makers that are a lot better at SUVs which is a big mistake. I just wish Jaguar was still managed by Sir Lyons. Next thing they will be making Pickups.

Right, our first gen XK's are the last of a dying breed and that only enhances their value and the desire for them.

Today's cars all look so much alike that it is hard to tell one from another. I mean with the Kia's, the Hyundai's the new Buicks and Fords and on and on they all look like a mishmash of BMW/Mercedes/Lexus........... The recent Fords look remarkably like the newer Jaguars. You know, the Chinese and Russians have been stealing the plans of our fighter jets for decades now and I don't think that it is any great leap to believe that there is some international espionage going on between the auto manufacturers with some people selling the sketches and so forth from companies such as BMW and Mercedes and even Jaguar, in the case of Ford. Now, isn't it interesting that Ford once owned Jaguar and undoubtedly, some people in each company came to know one another quite well. Suddenly a Ford comes out that looks nothing like any other Ford in history, but, amazingly similar to the newest Jaguar models, which looks nothing like any Jaguar in history. I don't think that it is happenstance.
