I forget who designed that concept but there is a thread on here somewhere. I think it was a modern iteration of the E-Type.

I like it, the back end needs a little work though. However as an XK (or even E-Type), it's too polarizing. It pushes the envelope. XK, XJS and E-Type are supposed to be the envelope. They have a style, class and senses elegant and simple sofistication that the competition tries to emulate. This particular design doesn't have that. At least not with that backend anyways.

I like the look of my XK8 better.

And seriously... wire wheels? That was state of the art in what... 1920?

I definitely agree the back end needs more work. But the front... wow, nice. I know ours were supposed to be a little retro and evoke the XKE when they came out in the late '90's, but this look is even more retro. I think I like it better than the current models.

I like that way better than the 2012.

And those wire spoke rims look amazing.

With some small modifications it surely looks interesting. Here is a link to the company that made the drawings: http://www.viztech.se/
They consider making them pending demand, price I heard was about $1.000.000.

I'm sorry Rev but I love the wire wheels. It's imprinting from my teenage years. It's Jag! If I could figure out how to afford them for my car I'd be doin it.

Saw a '99 xk8 convertible BRG tan interior on ebay. Every option including wire wheels. What a beautiful machine.

My first Jag was a 1993 XJ6 VDP with factory (Dayton) wire wheels. It was a GORGEOUS car.

When they are clean, wire wheels are magnificent. But they are a pain to keep clean, and they really look bad dirty.

Cheers,

I like it a lot. Wires? Yeah, I'm hooked for life on those.

One quibble: picture it with single rather than dual headlights. Cleaner, sportier look it would be, IMO.

I have only one real criterion anymore for evaluating a car: it either makes me smile or it doesn't. This one does.

I"m curious. This looks like this doesn't have a hood/bonnet. It appears that the whole front end pivots open a la XKE. Pretty cool, but they probably could't do it with today's bumper regulations.

Default Love the wires

British sports cars and wire wheels just go together and this is the last of the Mohicans. Not to mention BRG

Default Wire wheels

I saw an XK8 with wire wheels last summer on a lot and it was sold in a snap. Really pretty. You can get them (tubeless) for the XK8 from wire wheel specialists and they are not any more expensive than a typical set of good wheels. I drive mine year 'round so I'd have to swap them off in the winter so there's an extra set of tires to pay for.

I was flipping through my motorcycle magazine and saw an article on new wire wheels with S/S spokes and color-anodized caps, etc. Really sexy. There are greater side loads on motorcycles and wire wheels are more flexible...

Really? I don't see how that's possible. Motorcycles lean into turns, so the forces are always relatively equal from left to right. If you put a side load on the motorcycle wheel the bike is going to fall on its side.

By contrast, every turn in a car is putting significant side loads on your wheels. Let's say you're driving a Corvette that can take a turn at 1G. I'm not sure how much a Corvette weighs, but let's just say it weighs 4000 pounds. At 1G that's 1000 pounds of side loading on each wheel (actually it's more on the outside wheels and less on the inside wheels, but you get the point).

I think it looks more like a TVR and less like a Jag. Still cool.

I saw this a while back, I think they have done the rear very well, definately caught the E Type essence. I hate the front, why the double lights? The only Jag that had those was the XJs, why make it look like that? Let alone that they remind me more of a Merc, sacrilegious!

I am with Rev on the wire wheels, not a fan, although they do look good on that retro style. I deal with wires on a daily basis with the old classics that are laying around this place, Austin Healey 3000, E Types and MGs, they all have them, I would fit mini lites!

Your XKs look more seducing than that of the image . I had been a few times in those original E Types , that was horrible and surely not practical , your XKs is much better than any comparison
