I'm back!
Hi all,
It's been a little while, but I'm back. This time with a black 2000 XKR Coupe... and still most of a green 98 XK8. I wasn't expecting to be out of the game for so long, but I was and now I'm not.
Long story short; it was a good deal, only a few small things to be worked on. I even had the guy throw in brand new Perelli winters.
I made a few trips before my first problem: an oil cooler line decided to split. Not such a big deal, part was easy to come by, replacement was made in a few minutes, car is back on the road.
Without further ado, here are some pics. Please don't be too critical yet, I haven't had the chance to give it a thorough cleaning but maybe today or tomorrow.

Cheers guys, and Jim!
By most of a XK8, I mean it's only really missing one little, teeny tiny piece: the engine. Wasn't able to find a decent replacement in nearly two years. Too bad, I actually prefer it over this XKR.
This XKR has.... 198 000km, (123 000 miles?).
One unique feature is the aftermarket sunroof. It's neat. It works. It doesn't leak but it does squeak a little which is somewhat annoying when the music isn't on. It's done well, it doesn't look bad in anyway but I think they cheaped out a little on the 'model' of sunroof as it only has two controls: forward and back. When pressing back, it will open as a vent then keep retracting until you remove your finger from the button. It also has an interior sliding cover that is vented which is nice at times.
I gave it a good cleaning inside today, a few buttons came unstuck. Still some bugs though.

You can always rebuild that engine, those 4.0l are built very well inside (besides the plastic timing chain bits) and with ebay parts are easy to come across.
What happened to yours?
Also internal engine parts group is by far the best company I've ever worked with for engine parts, those guys are very knowledgeable and can find just about any part you could ever need to rebuild engines.
I've never done a full rebuild on these but I've torn them down completely after having bent valves and the entire bottom end of these is rock solid so I haven't had to track down rod or main bearings, but I'm sure they are easy to find.

Basically, I had cylinder wash which was misdiagnosed by three different mechanics. The guys who pulled the engine concluded I had burnt piston rings. But they also waited until the warranty period was nearly up before putting in the new (used) engine, which turned out to be defective. They washed their hands of it.
Now I have two nearly complete engines but both need complete rebuilds and my rebuilder can do it, but it would be cost prohibitive.
