Immediate value of forum
We adopted our 2004 XK8 convertible about two weeks ago and joined this forum soon after. Last week I visited our local dealer where, for on$185.00 I could get a second key. I passed on the $400.00 remote($39.00 eBay). They found the coolant reservoir was leaking and, for only $400.00 they could fix it($175 part, $225 labor). I researched this on the forum and bought a new reservoir online for $63.00. A friend and I , using the info from this forum, were able to replace it. Word of warning-when they say the tiny thin plastic tube is easy to break, believe them. Found out that this tube had been broken before and juryrigged . We replaced it with hose.
Total out of pocket-$100.00. Forum saved me $300.00 and I learned a lot.
Thank all of you for the info available.

Agree 100%. I did my homework here before I purchased my car for around 10% of it's original cost and knew pretty much what to look for. Since then, I have solved lots of issues by asking on the forum. I have requested that the Pope make "Saint Gus of the JagRepair" an official beatification but he hasn't replied yet (probably can't use Google translate).
I know I'm a bit **** and boring, but whenever I see a post or thread about something that might be useful one of these days. I store the link away so I can maybe retrieve it if it could help me or somebody else. It's a bit like the virtual equivalent of that tin of BA, Whitworth and AF nuts and bolts that you keep at the back of the garage "just in case" but takes up less space.
