Installing Brembo brakes on early xk8 and xj8 cars
#21
Ok, final update I have fitted the new brakes front and rear, and unlike some, there is a distinct difference in pedal feel and braking performance. As stated in my previous post I have a set of new PS4s tires, and the stock brakes could not activate abs on a good road. These new brakes can but only if you are fully panic braking. I was also very lucky that the calipers I got came with some pretty trick 2 piece rotors which are at least 10-15 pounds lighter than a one-piece rotor for this setup. I am very pleased with the result, and it is most definitely a worthwhile upgrade for the looks alone, but the performance while not night and day is much improved. I am sure that with some stainless lines and aggressive pads, you could get a similar performance bump from the stock brakes but that's up to you. Oh also for the front the Goodridge XKR Silverstone stainless lines fit like OEM on the XJR. They are slightly longer but if clocked correctly, they do not rub or get pinched from lock to lock. As for the rear, I'm not sure the fitting is right so for now I just re-used the stock lines which you can do btw. You just need a new bolt which is included with the Goodridge Here are some pics. if anyone has questions in the future, feel free to ask if I'm still active ill be happy to answer.
