Default Instructions needed washer fluid bottle replacement

Good Day!
I have a 2000 VDP that needs washer fluid bottle installed. Anyone have a line on instructions/CD/video or the like? Please advise. Thanks!

Is that the four door XJ8 or XJR you have? If so, you want the X308 section for information on replacing the screen wash fluid reservoir:

XJ ( X308 ) XJ8 / XJR - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum

It'll be front undertray and wing liner removed to get to it. X308 owners will have the details.

Hi Graham,

do you have info as to how to replace the washer bottle on XK8 I think I have a major leak in mine. I have tried topping it up but just end up with a lot of liquid on the floor

One other question, how do i start a new thread on the forum

Thanks in advance Richard

The last time I had a windshield washer fluid leak (admittedly in a Lexus, not a Jaguar), it turned out to be a cracked plastic hose joiner fitting, not the washer fluid reservoir. Took me awhile to track it down but once I found it, I went to the hardware store's plumbing department and bought an appropriately-sized brass fitting for about $2. Installed it, and the washer fluid system never leaked again....

Thoroughly check your washer fluid hose fittings before you assume your reservoir is the culprit....

+1

The 'O' Ring (item 14), Washer Tube (item 2) and Grommet (item 3) are frequent sources of leaks.

Are you familiar with the procedure for removing the Wing Liner without damaging the fixings to be able to check the above and the Washer Reservoir itself?

Richard,

See #6 for items to check before condemning the Reservoir.

To start a new thread, press the black 'New Thread' button top left of the screen above the existing threads. This brings up the new thread dialogue box.

Richard,

The Wheelarch Liner is secured to the Front Wing, Inner Valance and Front Bumper with three different types of fixing.

1. Plastic Hexagon Nut (removed with appropriate size socket)
2. Arrow head Clip (first pull the raised centre pin out until it locks)
3. Screw Rivet (first undo the centre cross head screw)

Fixings (2) and (3) are easily destroyed if not first released as described before removing them with a trim panel removal tool:

With care, all the fixings are re-useable many times.

Here's what it looks like. Plenty of places for leaks or disconnected pipes.

If you find anything broken and needing replacement, I know of four XK8's being broken for spares at the moment.

Default Washer not working on XK8 1998

My washer does work, similar to the above. The wipers work and when I push the washer button at the end, the wipers move but no water or sound of the motor.
My question is should I check all the pipes and tubes or is it simply the fact that not pump noise means I just have to replace.

Your advice would be much appreciated.

Default Washer not working.

I have taken the wheel and cover off, exposed the washer bottle etc. All the connections are fine and no kinks in the pipes. The only problem I can see is the washer pump makes no noise so I am hoping that a replacement will resolve the issue.

Does anyone disagree with the above, if so would appreciate all your assistance.

Cheers

Joe

I would say check that power makes it to the pump before replacing it. Alternatively, bring power to the pump and check if the pump runs.

Default Washing not working.

I would like to thank everyone for posting on this link, the drawings, diagrams and everyones help. Thank you.

After taking off the wheel and cover as explained with the use of the diagrams. The motor had power going to it but no noise coming from the pump. Ordered one on the web, fitted it today and all works perfectly.

Put everything back and its all perfect, thank you all very much.

Joseph
