Instrument cluster multiple fault codes -- SOLVED
After years of trouble-shooting, finally solved!
My 2000 XKR would occasionally show multiple fault codes (low break fluid, gearbox, ASC, etc) upon system check process that would prevent engine start. This would happen about every month. Battery was fine, fuses good and resets never helped. The only thing that seemed to help was to wait a few hours and try again and that would mostly work. Then I realized opening and shutting the hood seemed to shake loose something that was stuck. So I figured it must be a sticky relay and replaced them all, but that didn't solve it. Then I noticed that using my hand to whack the driver side fuse box area would clear the faults, and after turning off ignition and restarting system check the fault codes were gone. For a couple years I reliably used this "Fonzy tap" whenever these fault codes appeared figuring I could live with this slight inconvenience. Recently the Fonzy tap stopped working and I thought this was a problem I would never solve, my beloved XKR was stuck in my driveway and finally I'd have to follow my wife's frequent advice.
Then I happened upon Technical Bulletin 413-S484 Instrument Pack Assembly - CAN Failure - Service Action S484. This describes an issue where solder on the instrument pack was getting squeezed by the back plate and causing a ground out. The solution was to simply scrape the solder back. I also shaved off the back plate plastic that was pressing on this solder point. Problem solved and my XKR lives!

I performed the procedure DOZENS of times at the dealer when the fault was discovered.
Lucky you that the folded solder repair worked. Many required a replacement INSTPK and the mileage to be programmed from Jaguar.
We just got the M backplate from the parts dept but grinding the plastic works the same.
I guess you or the previous owner ignored the recall letter?

I guess I was lucky. Hadn't heard of the recall letter but I purchased in 2016.
