When I got my XK8 a few weeks ago I didn't even ask what the rate was going to be, I just called up my agent and he added it. I got the bill today. It's $757 every six months. I have several other cars insured with this guy, too. $1500 per year seems a little steep to me. My Expedition, which is worth quite a bit more than the Jag, has a bigger V8, and can do much more damage in an accident, is only about $950 per year by comparison. What are you guys paying for insurance?
By the way, I accidentally bumped into a big concrete light post in a parking lot a few months ago and did about $3000 of damage to the Expedition. The insurance company assessed me three points and jacked up the rates.

2 seat roadster v8, thats the highest rates you can pay for.
if the car had 2 dummy seats in the back insurance would have been less. if you stay under a certain amount of mileage you can have the rates lowered (I think 6kmiles annually).
Dont be sad though, Im 24 yrs old and pay $6000 annually for an 04 XJ8 and a 10 CIVIC LX.... I know, rape.

Sam, just for fun I ran an online quote with my insurance (USAA), and it came back $900 / year with my normal coverage 300000/100000 and $1000 deductible. The deductible is the real key, I like to self insure and the deductible is the easiest place to lower the premium.
I think I read on another of your posts that you are ex-military, I would suggest going to USAA if you aren't already a member as you may find they are much more competetive than just about any other insurer.

$420.00 a year collector car insurance, unlimited miles, just don't drive it everyday or to work. They really wanted to know about the other vehicles we have, 5 vehicles, two cars one truck and another collector car with two drivers over 50 who have never had a claim, so they were satisfied that the two collector cars would not be driven daily. I only put 4500 miles last year on the XKR I do have a $1500.00 deductible Covering this car on my regular policy would have run $870.00 a year.

and yes, my payment is CRAZY
I pay $450 every 6 mo. I carry 250/500/250 and a $0.00 comp and $100 collision deductable and I am a guarantee renue. I don't believe in high deductables. Even $100 collision deductable (Which is the lowest I can carry) isn't hard to come up with and $0.00 is even easier.

You have to be active duty military or a veteran (or a spouse, I think). Go to www.usaa.com to see if you qualify.
