Default interior panel cover replacement

I just noticed that the plastic cover that is on the passenger side of my XKR is cracked. It is the cover that covered the wheel well and mated with the rug and door sill. The crack is on the top where it meets with the door sill. It is about 5 inches long. There is no traffic on this piece and I do not know how it got cracked. I just had the car inspected by my Jaguar dealer and came home to picked my wife up. She noticed it when she got into the car. I called my dealer about it but they didn't have any answers on how it got cracked.

I was thinking about super gluing the crack then cover it with a lite weight carpet material that matches the original color. These panels look pretty cheap anyway and covering it would probably look good and it would hide the crack. If I recover it I would also have to recover the drivers side panel.

I am assuming that these panels come off without to much trouble. Has any one taken these panels out and if so how do you do it? If any one has a spare panel in the med tan color, that they want to sell, I would be interested.

Bill,

I think you're refering to the plastic Cowl Side Trim Panel which curves up from the door tread plate and around into the side of the footwell?

I'm away from home at the moment and haven't got reliable internet connection let alone access to JTIS or the Parts Manual so can't include an illustration.

If it is the Cowl Side Trim Panel, as far as I can remember the Treadplate has to come off to allow the panel to be slid backwards off its securing stud.

Hi Graham

I worked out a deal with my Jag dealer on this part. I will buy the part at dealer cost $88.00 and the dealer will install it for free. I think that is fair.

We do not know how it got cracked while it was in for service. The service guy said he did not do any think on that side of the car and I said it was not cracked when I brought it in, so we have a stalemate. I plan to have the brake and power steering fluids changed at the same time. Thanks for your input.
