intermittent wiper settings randomly change speed
Anyone seen this issue on the XK models? My wipers seem to have a mind of their own when used in manual intermittent mode (not auto mode). On the lower speeds, it decides 75% of the time to just run at whatever speed it wants. The low end of intermittent is supposed to be around a 20 second delay between wipes; mine will wipe like that, then they will speed up to full intermittent speed for a bit, then slow down again. It almost seems like the wipe speeds are changing because the car is trying to speed them up with road speed, but doesn't happen all the time. (when the wipers are used on low speed, they do slow down at a stop light the way they are designed).
The wiper motor was already replaced under warranty due to the issue where the blades would stop at the top of the screen. The dealer also replaced some harness ground at the same time. Right after that I complained about the intermittent speeds not working right, they replaced the column switch and said it was fixed.
So the only thing left in between those parts is the Front Electronics Module. I wish I had access to the jag diagnostic tool so I could see what speed the car thinks it's set to... Sometimes switching the wipers off, then back on, without touching the speed knob will get them working right (until I adjust the speed again).
Anyone seen this issue? Maybe I should see if the dealer actually fixed the ground at the motor... what was that repair for, the hood hinge grounding wire?
