ISO AJ34 Parts
Hello,
I am searching for some internal parts for an AJ34 SC Engine, which are:
2 connecting rods and the 2 Intake Cams....
I recently bought another XKR which has drawn Water, which has caused one broken and one bended rod, and the previous owner broke both intake cams because of wrong removal, rest of car and engine ist fine...
it is a 2005 convertible and too good to be dismantled

Being an AJ34 engine, you will have VVT intake cams. These are much more common than the earlier AJ33 engines without VVT.
E-bay might be you best bet, but I don't see any for sale right now.
For your reading pleasure attached is a link to a discussion on AJ-V8 camshafts. This will help you determine what cams will work best with your engine.

I always thought that the AJ34 engine change added VVT to the SC engine along with a PCM change. But reading other older forum posts there appear to be AJ34S engines without VVT. Kind of confusing in 2005 time frame.
Cambo posted this a while back:
The s/c 4.2L engines from these VIN's onwards had VVT
S-Type R from VIN N52048
X350 XJR & SuperV8 from VIN G49701
All 4.2L X150 XKR
All 4.2L X250 XF SV8 & XFR
In the chart that was posted originally by Count Iblis, one can see that all the exhaust cams appear to be the same. (You should be able to use any AJ34S exhaust cams.)
But there are several variations of the inlet cams. You will have to find the ones specific to your engine. (These are fairly rare. Last time I saw some for sale on Ebay was a complete set of heads that sold for $1500.)

Is this what happened to your cams? I noticed on the set I have for an engine refresh, that one of the cams has a broke flange.

yes, both intake cams have broken flanges just behind the cam sprocket, this can happen when you loosen the cam from rear to front, the valve springs then lift the cam and the flanges break
i bought the car with heads already removed ... but it was cheap
some parts are missing, and i am sure some of the screws will be missing too
up to now , i found the 2 connecting rods on ebay, still searching for cams ...i have 2 N/A cams in my shelves but they are indeed slightly different, but i think the car would run with these...but this is only in case i cannot find the right ones

It is a lesson learned, that next time one purchase a set of used heads, that one confirms that the flange isn't broken. In my case, I purchase heads on the occasional basis when I see them selling inexpensive with under 100K miles on the car. Its too late to complain to the seller being that these heads were purchased 4-5 years ago.
My understanding is that many of the N/A inlet cams in VVT engines are the same as the fixed gear cams. I haven't figured out the differences yet looking at the ones I have.
I thought I might have extras, but because the 2 cams with broken flanges, I don't.
Can you describe the differences between the NA cams and SC cams? Different tool flat angle? Different lift? ...
I wonder if the flanges could be welded up and then reground, Probably more expensive than finding new used ones.
