jag went nuts... HELP!
Ok, i went out to go to the gym and i fired her up. And WOW something is way wrong.
I get a error code 14 on the ac system. a low coolant on the warning gauge. if i start the car it runs but i get a battery not charging, low coolant and a my low beams do not work. Also the j gate is not ligting up. if i scan the computer i get only one code B1204. Fuel sender short?
Any one got any ideas?
Any help would be much appreciated

RE: jag went nuts... HELP!
My rear view mirror is now showing "C", meaning i have to drive in a circle to 'set' the compass on the right course. I did nothing different to her today. I think its just this alignment of stars we're under.
My first question is, was the coolant low? If not, then it seems like false readings everywhere, meaning an electrical version of Alzheimers. If the coolant was good, do a reset on your electrical system. Last time I had multiple 'warnings' and lamps on everywhere that wouldn't go out, I did a reset and all went back to normal. Not sure if a low battery can cause such a variety of errors though..but anythings possible. Give it a shot, couldn't hurt.

Unencumbered by any information or experience I would suggest thatit appears the various computers are not enjoying the electrical system. The fuel sender is directly linked to the Major Instrument (panel) Module as all the other things that do not work. I would do a complete reboot by removingthe negative sidebattery terminal for a couple minutes, checking the voltage and then reconnecting. Minimum of 12.5 volts.
Beyond that I would wait until someone with vastly more knowledge than I responded.

Ok, so i went out there and tried again. This time it started up normal with the exception of a Traction control not available error. That went away about 3 to 4 seconds after it fired up. I shut it off and started again.. Nothin out of the ordinary. Started just fine...
i have not done a reset yet.
I then checked the coolant. Not at all low. Right were it should be....
the lights are now working also.. Who the hell knows! Damn cat's got a mind of its own!

That's a reading of the surface charge, no load, after the alternator has just been charging it.
Have the battery load tested, and I expect it will fail and require replacement. That's step one and there isn't any sense in firing around speculation until a known good battery is in the car.

No problem. There's a Carquest on 72nd Ave. that comes up as an Interstate Battery dealer in Battle Ground. Those are good quality batteries, they make an appropriate size for your XKR, and they are fully warranted. Yours looks like a ragtop in the picture, you may have to reset the window drop function after the replacement.

HAHAH i get asked that often when people find out were i am from.

The city is ironically named for the absence of a battle. In 1855 many of the soldiers at nearby Fort Vancouver were away fighting an uprising by the Yakima Indian tribe. Nervous settlers organized a company of volunteers to guard the undermanned fort. Fearing that the friendly Klickitat Tribe on the Lewis River would join the uprising, the volunteers ordered them into the Vancouver Barracks near the fort. When some of the Klickitats escaped, Captain William Strong, the post commander, led a detachment of volunteers to bring them back. They overtook the Klickitats near the current location of the city, but rather than engaging them in battle, Captain Strong talked them into agreeing to return to the fort peacefully. Somehow during this episode the Klickitat leader, Chief Umtuch, was killed. The circumstances of his death are unclear: some said he was killed by a soldier, others by an accidental gunshot from his own men. In any event, the Klickitats promised to return to the fort after burying their chief, a ceremony that would take several days, so Strong returned without them. The settlers had been expecting a battle, and when Strong returned empty-handed, they accused him of cowardice. The Klickitats did return as promised, but criticism of Strong continued. The women of the fort awarded him a petticoat of many colors in mock celebration of his courage. And the area where the Klickitats were encountered became known as "Strong's Battle Ground," and later simply "Battle Ground."
i have heard a few variations on it, but the above is generally considered true.

RE: jag went nuts... HELP!
Interstate shows two batteries for an XK. One is a 1000 and is black and sells for $135-$140. The other is 900 (I think) and is white and sells for $230-$280.
I have the white one in my XK8. The gravity in each cell is around the "Replace" are on my Hydrometer.
The white one weights 16lbs. more than the higher powered one. Would the higher powered one that cost less work in the XK8?

Who makes motorcraft batteries?
Motorcraft batteries are made by Johnson Controls.
The four largest domestic battery manufacturers are Johnson Controls (Interstate, Motorcraft, Energizer, older Diehards), Delco (Sears, newer Diehards), GNB (Champion) and Exide (NAPA).
