Hi
Following a service yesterday where my 25,000 mile XKR has done less than 100 miles this year...the health check threw up the following probs:-
HAZARD SWITCH IN-OP - NEW SWITCH BANK REQ - MOT FAIL REBOOK £277.90
AIR CON
IN-OP - CONDENSER LEAKING £1,489.23
N/S/R INDICATOR SHOWING WHITE LIGHT - NEW BULB £44.72
Question: as all the other switches in the bank work fine, would it be possible/feasible to either change the hazard switch or repair same?
Air Con problem........repairable?
Any info would be appreciated, Thanks

You cannot change individual switches in the switch pack. Sticking hazard switch is common. It’s usually either gummed up with dirt debris or the screw which retains the switch pack is over tight. This causes the switch to jam either in or out. Can usually be manipulated with a credit card. If you really need a switch pack there are usually used ones on eBay for £25 to £40.

That's an imaginative price for a £2 bulb
Condenser replacement is expensive, but it's a tad laborious to R&R and there's the evac & recharge cost. You can get an aftermarket part for around £120 if you choose to do it yourself. Member RaceDiagnostics has a thread on here somewhere with pics.
I would recommend replacing the receiver/dryer at the same time.

Gas Turbine's comment below is absolutely true:

I have rarely seen a problem on any Jaguar which couldn't be manipulated with a credit card!
All the best,
Jerry

Really pleased your hazards are now working. It’s not unusual for the switch to stick. I have a brand new switch pack and after a a drive on a hot sunny day it stuck. After half an our back in the garage I could not fault it.
You can test your cold air with a meat thermometer. I have a small one (1 inch dia) permanently installed in my S type. Put it in to diagnose a flow sensor failure a year ago found it useful so never removed it!
Hope they gave you the MOT pass.

Thanks....MOT not due for a while...didn't have to use the card Don't have a meat thermometer, but will get one.....do about 100 miles a year in this, generally use it for concours shows....wasn't gonna spend £1500 on the aircon ....next year I will look for a specialist...disappointed with the info that this main dealer gave me...what happened to customer service, they must have known about sticking switch...and what you told me about credit card...they put MOT failure for switch to frighten me into having the bank replaced.
Again, thank you for your advice...saved me £277 )
Have a good weekend.

Look under the bonnet with the engine running. You should be able to see (and hear) when the compressor clutch engages.
When my system was leaking, the clutch initially would engage for a few seconds and then release, and the fans followed in sympathy (low refrigerant pressure).

Hi Michael
I just revisited the health check video that was sent.
You can hear the conversation 'air con not working, you can see the green dye on it' so I guess they know what they are talking about and as I wasn't going to have the repair done anyway due to the very limited mileage I do...think I will call it a day (and start saving up for a bulb HAHA)
Thank you and the other guys for your input, and appreciate the help.
All the best
Brian
