Jaguar Wing Protector Question

Jaguar Wing Protector Question
I purchased a Jaguar Wing (fender) Protector from Welsh Enterprises and it arrived in a new box with a rather beat-up looking Jaguar box inside. Jaguar part number JLM20159 was marked on the label on the inside box.
There were no instructions or anything else but the vinyl covers in the box.
The fender covers are in good shape and made from heavy green vinyl with Jaguar and XK8 screened on each. There are metal tabs covered in rubber along the top of each that can be bent to hold the two covers in place at the seam on the top of each fender.
The covers are nice looking and cover the wings and scuttle area, joined by strips of velcro. But there are also velcro strips sewn along the edges of the covers and one diagonal strip of velcro on each cover in front of each wheel well opening that I cannot figure-out. What is the purpose of that velcro? Should some velcro tape have been included with the covers?
I emailed Welsh Enterprises and asked them about the purpose of the velcro, but the Welsh rep did not know.
Here's a link to the protector listing with a photo:

Any ideas? Am I missing something?
Thanks in advance.

The can coozie is an interesting idea, but I'm afraid my DIY Jaguar work might wind-up a bit delayed by Miller Time.
Also, the suggestion that the diagonal velcro strip that can be seen in the photo in the link in my OP may be for another cover to attach. Interestingly, the description, also in that link, is this: "Pair of protective fender covers for your XK8. Covers both front fenders and top radiator support area. Has both Jaguar and XK8 logos." The "top radiator support area" in the front of the engine compartment is obviously not covered by the protector in the photo, but all the links I could find, Googling the part number JLM20159, describe the cover as two parts. A third piece that would attach to the diagonal velcro strips (with the bonnet removed) makes sense. But that still leaves a mystery: the purpose of the velcro strips sewn along the inner edges of the protectors.
Any more ideas?
