Jaguar XK8 convertible top won’t latch
And of course my quarter windows are down also. I did what it said in the owners manual, found the pump in the trunk turned the pump off then took the Allen wrench and proceeded to put it in the specific spot and turn counter clockwise but I couldn’t get it to turn at all. I took it to a shop yesterday and he had the same results. He said I would have to leave it with him and he would have to go into it to see what’s going on! Has anyone else experienced this? Thanks, Don

Don,
I didn't have that specific problem, but am familiar with the mechanisms. The big allen key should turn the latch bolt - located top of windscreen (just checking) so it's worth a shot of lubricating both the latch mechanism itself, from above, and the allen key bolt (don't stain the headliner) to see if you can get it moving. Fellow forum members have changed a faulty latch (due to the infamous green shower) and there's lots of info here on doing the job DIY.
As for the rear quarter windows, there's a relay in the trunk boot, for their up/down operations. This is easily by-passed to raise the windows. See Youtube video below.
For what it's worth, our eminent Rev Sam also did a great video on installing a switch to raise and lower these "on demand".
