Jaguar XK8 Trunk Luggage Rack, any suggestions?

Hello everybody. I am trying to find for my 97 XK8 Convertible a trunk rack. Already a few times I had to transport boxes that won't fit in the trunk, i.e. a flat screen TV or similar. It would be nice to have a smaller trunk rack readily available stashed in the trunk, and easy to mount for these rare occasions. I did find one on Amazon with a universal fit, but I am concerned about the quality. I searched on the internet for better products but without success. If anyone here has any ideas or suggestions, please forward them. Thanks in advance.
BTW, I already found my bicycle rack of choice, a pretty good fit is the THULE Raceway 2. In my experience it keeps the paint safe and is easy to attach, lock and detach. No movements or noises while driving.

Years ago Jaguar offered it as an accessory, but I suspect it is long out of production:

Something made for the E-Type might look as good as anything. Such as ...

But check fitment! More than likely, either one would need some tweaking.

Unfortunately, the previous owner installed an aftermarket sound system with a subwoofer box in the trunk. I normally don't have to transport more than just my briefcase, but there are these rare occasions with for example luggage that just won't fit in the trunk.....
I found a few websites in Great Britain selling trunk or boot racks, but I have no assurance about fit and quality. I don't want to spend more than $300 for a rack that actually functions (appr 60 pounds of load) and does not look too bad....
Here the sites I found so far:
The Semi Permanent Range - Classic Boot Racks
Car Boot Rack 10154 For Convertibles & Coupes

Anybody has more info on the Jaguar original Trunk rack, item# Jaguar Trunk Rack W/ Locks OEM Jaguar JLM20087? I was looking all over the web, but no detailed info. It is listed on ebay for $350, the picture only shows an open box with a black rack inside. Will this fit on an XK8? Thanks.

My father-in-law manufactures trunk mounted luggage racks for a number of different models of cars, here in Los Angeles (also bicycle racks that are far superior to Thule and others while being made in the U.S., not China). If you go to Surcoinc.com you can take a look at the luggage and bike racks. I can certainly ask him if he could make up some to fit the XK series. Just let me know, it would certainly come in handy sometimes, I'd probably take one myself.

Thanks for the info. I did email them already, but in case you are going to talk to him, here my suggestions:
The lid should not be wider than the trunk lid, 48 inches and the depth should be around 22". They should be mounted very low with a clearance of about 3". This would still give some visibility through the rear window. The design should be very simple with rounded corners and the rack should have a support bar on the bottom. Regarding the bicycle rack, there is NOT even one as per my knowledge availabe for one bike only that fits the XK8.

XK - Luggage Carrier.pdf
The illustrations give some idea of why it's such an expensive option. Well designed to fit without any drilling or risk of putting dents in the lid.
The Accessory Brochures listed additional fittings for skis and bikes.

I was at my father-in-law's factory, this morning, and I mentioned to him that there was interest in a trunk mounted luggage rack like he manufactures for the BMW Z4, etc., and I showed him the rear deck of my 2002 XKR. He would consider making a custom one for XK's if there was enough interest, meaning a certain minimum. How many of you would truly be interested in a trunk mounted rack made specifically for the XK? I will report my findings after a couple of weeks. You can see the type of rack at their website www.surcoinc.com

Picking up on an old thread I thought I would post to say that I managed to get a genuine Jaguar boot rack for my XK8 earlier this year and used it over the last few weeks for a trip round France with great success. I got a bag to go on it which was designed for putting directly on the lid without a rack but worked really well and should be waterproof if it rains hard. I took the rack off yesterday and there is no damage to the paintwork which is good - the rack has been on for nearly 2000 miles for many of which it was loaded.
They crop up very rarely on ebay in the UK but I would recommend it if you want one.
