Just bought a 2000 XK8 - question about options
I just purchased a 2000 XK8 convertible with 43K miles (02/2000 production date). I plan to change the hoses for the pump for the convertible top since that seems to be a common problem. Plus I will flush the tranny fluid and install a new filter.
One question I have is how can I determine what options this car has? It does not have the GPS system, but how can I determine if the car has other options (premium radio, etc). I have yet to find any information as to what options were available.
Thanks.

I think the Nav and the premium sounds system were the only options on these cars.
Adaptive cruise wasn't available for a few more years. Everything else was standard as far as I can remember.
If you've got 6 speakers up front, two 'subs' in the rear, and a separate amp atop the CD changer, you've got the premium setup.

I was starting to type it out, but then I renumbered that Jaglovers has a few brochures scanned.
Here is the options page from 2000:
Granted it isn't perfect (ex: you can't get CATS with a convertible and I think Matt is correct that adaptive cruise didn't come until later) but it is a start.

Hydraulic hoses
Re: your comment about changing the hydraulic hoses. My suggestion is that you lift the latch cover and examine the condition of the hoses at the fitting where they join the latch cylinder. This only requires the removal of a few screws. Be careful with the rubber seals at each end as some screws are located beneath.
If the hoses are OK (it will be obvious) then think about installing the pressure relief kit. This reduces the pressure by about 1/3 and will not only preserve the hoses but will also prolong the life of the lift cylinders. The rod seals on the lift cylinders fail almost as often as the latch hose.
If the hose is degraded then your first priority should be there. You are talking about $500 for the parts to do both the hoses and the kit. My car has factory replacement hoses that were replaced prior to my purchasing the car. They are still OK and I see no reason to replace them now that I have the pressure relief kit. With 43K I would be surprised if the hoses haven't been replaced. Most cars don't make it to 50K unless they never got hot and the roof was seldom used. Warm climate cars are lucky to make 30K.
