Just spotted this 2001 XKR Cpe. for sale
I have no interest in this car I just spotted the ad. Besides I live in Florida and the car is in California and I have an XK8 convertible already.

For anyone interested, I live no more than 5 minutes from this dealership, and even though I already own 2 XKR s, I'm tempted. I would be happy to go inspect and take it to my Jag mechanic for a thorough inspection. The price seems awfully low for a nice car, but I'm going to go take a look at it anyway. Maybe after golf tomorrow. I'll report back.

A couple of observations from afar
Silver is perhaps the hardest color to match in the event of any damage and from the looks of the pictures (specially those in profile) the car has either never had any serious body damage or it's a complete repaint so those who actuially can get a good look at the car check the inside of the gas cap cover and under the hood and door edges for traces of mismatched paint color or overspray.
Another comment is that I helped a friend buy a 2001 XK8 about a year ago and we ran the Carfax report on it to be sure. It reported that it had been in an accident and while I can't remember every detail the report stated that the police report wrote that the damage was extensive. Armed with the information and a series of pretty good pictures and other details I'd dug up he went to look at the car. Now, he's been a gearhead for decades and owns and runs an automotive machine shop and has built and crewed everything from racing karts to paved 1/2 mile race cars, etc., so he knows a little about cars.
The car he looked at showed absolutely NO SIGNS of every having been hit anywhere. Not on the surface, not underneath, and not at either end. I've looked the car over and despite having close to 100,000 miles the car looks almost new with a solid clean interior and good paint with no mismatches anywhere.
I say this because Carfax reports must be taken with a grain of salt. Specially if they contain a police officers comments as to damage and the extent of it. As a dealer back in the day (30 years in the auto retail business) I dealt with Carfax a couple of times and understood their limitations as they can only report what the insurance companies report and what police accident records show. That means, for example, that rental and lease cars owned by companies that's self-insure don't show on Carfax reports. Just saying.
If the car wasn't 3000 miles away I'd be really interested in it.

So I finally had time to get by to look at the silver coupe this afternoon. It was at a medium sized used car lot with some very nice cars (ie: Nissan GTR, various BMWs and Mercedes, etc.), some not so nice cars, and some inbetween. I didn't see it when I drove into the lot to park, and when I got out and asked a young salesman about the car, he went to his boss' office to inquire about it and came out and said it had been sold a little more than a week ago. We'll never know how good a deal it really was unless the new owner is a member or plans on becoming a member of the forum. The list of repairs including the secondary tensioners, was impressive for the price. Hopefully the rest was pretty good as well. Maybe we'll hear from the new owner.
