I found this part lying loose under the passenger seat of my car. It is a rubber/ flexible plastic tube in a "C" shape. The tube is square rather than round. Anyone know what it is or how I can find out, so that I can put it back where it belongs. I am certain it has a purpose!

Thanks for any ideas and help,

JEZ

Tried to google the part number, got one hit back... your post here! How about a picture? There's always the chance it's just a piece of junk a previous owner left in the car.

It does not come up as a valid number on the JPAM site, although it looks like a Jag number. That could be because it is a subassembly number that is not sold separately, or a part number that has changed.

I agree, post a picture.

Default Is this it?

I found one of these in a similar location. Seems to match Mexk8's description although no part# on mine.

Unfortunately, I don't know what its for. Threw it in the glove box about 2 years ago until tonight.

So what is this thing? Not a form of contraception I have ever used, nor anything I can use to hang a shower curtain.... Ha ha ha

Wow, I can't improve on the other choices offered - and after seeing the picture ... I still can't help. Looks old.

Are you sure these aren't photos taken by Hubble of something that fell off the Mars Rover?

From the rough ends, it's looks as if it's broken off rather than fallen off.

If you're determined to know then take both seats out and compare the undersides. Driver's side should have the mystery part still attached - wherever it goes.

Alternatively, if the seat functions all work, throwing it in the glove box would be my chosen option from the suggestions so far.

I'm off to check the accessories brochure and see what shower Beav got fitted to his convertible.

Looks like thats the broken off plastic air duct that directs air from under the car to the back of the alternator. But without a ruler to show size it might not be. And US cars its all hard plastic, flexible yes, but defintly not rubbery.
see why pics are so important

Thank you! It is about seven inches long... I am going to look and see how I re attach it. I suppose it has some importance to cool the alternator?

PS. Thanks also to all the other posters, some of you crack me up!

I think it's part of a Flux Capacitor.
