Default Leaving Convertable top down

Well warm weather is getting here slowly this year in North Carolina and we've started driving the 2005 XK8 a lot with the top down. To save wear and tear on hydraulics I'v decided to leave the top down. It's parked in a closed garage with a
car cover over it.
Is there any down side to leaving the top down?

Jack

Have a good conditioner applied before you start that. It will get a bit crushed where the bends at the back occurs. Try to keep them from folding into the clamping of the top bars and all will be good.

Realized that unless you use the tourneau cover, the exposed portion of the headliner will get dirty. It's also a good idea to occasionally run the top up and down to help prevent crease marks and any operational surprises at summer's end.

Thanks Stamford, it might just be better to leave top up when stored and down when driving as we only drive it once every couple weeks or so in summer and about once a month in winter.

If the top isn't stretched in the up position, it could shorten up over time and become an issue when closing.
