No carnival reds, but a couple xk8 in salsa and another xkr in silver with dove interior, for about 18-19k...click on the pics for the site. Love the salsa red, but the darn thing doesn't have nav

Sorry to hear it Rev.
If there's a car you really want, you can always call to make an appointment. Most dealerships will hold it for you until you get there, providing you're talking a day or two, not weeks. And if you're dead serious about it and they get the right vibe, they will hold it for you. They know if they treat you well, you will come back and so will your friends. To prospective buyer's that are on the waiting list, they hate the fact they have to wait, but they admire the dealership for treating it's customer's right and they too will come back.
So for next time, call and make an appointment. Sometimes they will even stay open a little late for you and if it's dark, let you pull it into the garage for a good look.

I've really changed my mind on the carnival red. I still like it, but I like the silver with the black top even better now. I would prefer a lighter colored interior, however. That silver one in Virginia has piqued my interest. I think I'll give them a call tomorrow. It would be nice to get one with lower miles on the odometer, but I guess you can't be too picky with used cars.
Heck, I still need to buy a nice sedan for work. I've been racking up the miles on my XK8 and I want to stop driving it so much. I've put 700 miles on it in the last week. My only alternative right now is my Expedition, but it cost me $96 to fill it up earlier today.

See your quote at the end of the first page. Deja vu? Well, at least someone got a really nice car...

Sold?
I just cliked the link in Rev S's post and the car has SOLD slapped across it.
So SAM - Did you spring for it??
5 minutes later:
Well - DUH !!! If I had bothered to read the whole thread instead of just Page 1, I'd know the whole story.
I say: Hold out for the Carnival Red - 'course I'm kind of partial.

I appreciate the offer, but the fact that the one 30 minutes from me sold before I could even look at it is a sign that it wasn't meant to be. I really do need to buy myself a sedan before buying another toy. I filled up my Expedition yesterday. It cost $96. I get about 13 miles per gallon in it. I have been doing a LOT of driving lately. I feel rather embarrassed when customers see me in the Jag. It's too "fun" to be driving for work. I'm worried they won't think I'm a serious vendor. But then driving the Expedition costs me an arm and a leg. I need a nice, fuel efficient S-Type.

I saw a salsa colored XK8 driving last year (XK8s in general are very rare around here with the closest dealers 200+ miles away, so we were both staring at each other) and the color made the car look like it was trying too hard, if you get what I mean. I prefer a little more subtle, laid back color. Carnival red looks good to me though. I still think there is no substitute for British Racing Green

But hey, I guess differing tastes are what make the automotive world such an interesting place.
Cheers,

I actually agree with you about a "true red". I wouldn't want it on an XK8/R. But Carnival Red and the later Radiance Red are a different story. They are beautiful colors without yelling at you. (I'm so tired of seeing bright yellow Corvettes I could wretch!)

Cheers,
Salsa Red reminds me of R129 Mercedes SLs (1990-2002) in their bright red. It just felt like a "you're doing it wrong" moment. A Grand Tourer is not ideally to be a brash color, but rather more demure (red can be, it's about what shade of red and degree of metallic). My Carnival Red XKR seems to work; it's similar to the only type of red I like on Corvettes (Magnetic Red Metallic & similar).
