Lost all electrical power

Lost all electrical power
I was backing out of the garage yesterday and I lost all electrical power. Once the key was turned off and back on, I got every warning on the diagnostic display, and then erratic wiper, window, lights operating very slowly. Unfortunately, it was raining hard, and the passenger window had dropped partially, so it was leaking in pretty fast. I grabbed a tarp and covered the convertible top, and waited for it to stop. After an hour, i got the opportunity to try again, with the same result, so I decided on a hard reset, but I noticed that the grounding strap from the negative to the body was extremely hot. I did the reset and all was well, but now I'm cautious of an imminent electrical issue. I work overseas for six weeks at a time, but my wife starts the car regularly while I'm away, and had been driving the car for four days before this happened.
Anybody else experience this before?

You need to start with replacing that cable. Hot means high resistance and therefore low voltage to all the control modules. It has been reported before, these cable sometimes break down internally somehow, while the ends are visually perfectly fine. There is probably a risk of fire, I suppose, so I would get this taken care of ASAP.
Best of luck, keep us posted.
