Lower rear strut bush replacement (w/o spring compressor)
For those with a constant rattle in the back end good news. Replacement of the lower strut bushings can be done on a 2000 XKR without using a coil spring compressor.
After removing the lower shock bolt I was able to raise the suspension enough to maneuver the homemade tool and press out the old bushings and install the new ones.
The results are well worth $50 and 4 hours to do both sides. She sounds sweet with those rattles gone.
The shiny part on shaft is the outer of one of the old bushings for pressing. The pipe is 2" iron pipe from Home Depot. I used a cylinder head bolt, grade 8 nuts, propane torch and had the new bushings spend the night in the freezer.
