I think the alimuminum "crossmember" is worn. This seams like it would be way to expensive to replace. I think drilling it out and sleaving the aluminum is the way to go. right?
Thanks for all the help, I really appricate it

A new one would be $K's but in your place, I'd try to find a good second hand one from a breaker before machining and sleeving a worn one. That's a job for a machine shop. It's not one for DIY. The slightest misalignment would affect the steering and put huge stress on the crossmember.

Wow. Thats not what I wanted to hear. What would you call the part that I would be looking for? A friend was calling it a K member?
This car seams like it might be heading for the crusher its self. Its not worth dumping multiple 1000's into it, although its in great shape

It's called the 'Front Crossbeam'. Here's the beam and mountings from the parts list:

XK - Crossbeam.pdf

The link XKRacer posted looks very good value. Almost certainly work out lower cost and a more reliable solution than sleeving the existing crossbeam. You'd probably have to factor in new bushes and rear mounts.

Swapping the beams is definitely a DIY task.

Yes you can do it DIY at the end of the day any job can be if you have the skills and the tools.

I can tell you, you will need to make up a special hoist/brace coming off the strut towers to support the engine, you will also need the car at least 3 feet off the ground, ideally a ramp will save you massive head aches, especially if the V mounts have turned to crap and the bolts have rusted in which is very common.

Whilst you have it all out, you may as well change every bush and ball joint, if you going to do it, do it properly

Good luck
