Mechanical Belt issue XKR
Hi
I've just bought an 2009 XKR and it comes with a weird sound on the engine compartment, the car is still under the warranty but the dealer in my country is not that trustful. The problem seems to be the Mechanical Belt according to the dealer and the sound comes only when i start the car at the begininng of the day or after a long time of inactivity during the day such as 6 hours and last for about 10 minutes then goes off. Do i have to replace it as suggested by my local dealer or can i just wait to reach 1000 or 2000 km and put some white powder on it which is suggested by another dealer in another country.
Thanks

Hi,
I am in no way an expert of any kind, but to me, if The Dealer is acknowledging a problem and ready to remedy it (at their own expense) I would do it. If by not doing as they suggest possibly causes another problem, they might want to hold you responsible. I don't see the downside to letting the dealer do his warranty work. I would appreciate his response much better than the other one that wants you to "put some white powder on it". Just my .02 cents.
Good luck with it!
